The Product Engineer I supports all aspects of Rochester Electronics products throughout the development and manufacturing process from initial conception to delivery to the end customer. The Product Engineer I communicates and collaborates with internal departments including sales, assembly, production control, quality, and test engineering daily to assist in reaching company objectives. Performs the following duties:
Responsibilities
Serve as a technical lead for resolving issues concerning, but not limited to, test and screening yield analysis and improvement, quality and reliability failures, customer corrective action requests (CCAR), and audits.
Drive technical requirements for new product introduction by reviewing and interpreting customer drawings and specifications, defining product manufacturing flows, and applicable reliability qualification plans.
Create, review, and approve internal processes and specifications to support high quality manufactured products.
Serve as a technical lead on New Product Introduction (NPI) projects.
Participate in cross-functional teams for effective problem prevention and continuous improvement of cost, quality, yield, and electrical test performance.
Create, maintain, review, and approve technical documentation such as datasheets, process specifications, reports, and internal documents and specifications.
Provide support on a range of products and services to internal departments and externally to customers. This includes but is not limited to, supporting the test floor, product claim validation, programming, and yield analysis;
Use oscilloscope and semiconductor hardware to evaluate semiconductor product performance;
Address other tasks as they arise, such as product characterization in a lab environment, data analysis, capacitance testing, and hardware debugging;
Interpret customer requirements into test and assembly specifications;
Utilize Data and Yield Analysis Tools such as JMP and Galaxy Examinator;
Drive Device and Package Level Qualification for MIL, Automotive, Commercial, and Industrial products;
Submit failures to failure analysis lab, utilizing semiconductor analysis techniques;
Drive closure of product testing and assembly failure evaluations;
Modify process flows based on historical trends to streamline the manufacturing process;
Coordinate new product developments while tracking the associated costs; and
Support Test Services, Programming and Burn In, as needed.
Responsibilities
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field or equivalent foreign degree.
0-3 years of engineering experience in the semiconductor manufacturing or closely related industry.
Demonstrate strong data analysis abilities to enable thorough understanding of results and accurate problem statements.
Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated strong time management skills for dynamic work environment.
Be familiar with various semiconductor component types and understand their specifications, how they are manufactured, and test methods.
Be familiar with basic test methods and setting up bench equipment for characterization purposes or verifying failures.
Knowledge and experience with JEDEC, AEC-Q100, and MIL-STD-883 specifications.
