The individual will reverse engineer aircraft parts and develop FAA-compliant designs that go on to be manufactured, certified, and installed on commercial aircraft worldwide. Each project involves hands-on engineering across multiple disciplines – researching how a part functions in its aircraft or engine system, analyzing dimensions and materials, making design decisions grounded in measured data, and producing production-ready drawings per ANSI/ASME Y14.5. Work is project-based and primarily autonomous, with collaboration from senior engineers, certification, quality, procurement, and manufacturing throughout.

Work is project-based and primarily autonomous, with collaboration from senior engineers, certification, quality, procurement, and manufacturing throughout.
Key Responsibilities
- Research and investigate part function, failure modes and effects, and operating conditions to establish design requirements
- Develop 3D solid models and drawings using SolidWorks
- Coordinate and/or perform dimensional inspection, and support external materials analysis
- Evaluate dimensional and material data to drive design decisions based on measured results, manufacturing capabilities, and functional requirements
- Perform tolerance analysis and document engineering justification for design features
- Prepare and release production drawings in accordance with ASME Y14.5 standards
- Collaborate with procurement, manufacturing, quality, and certification to support the project lifecycle
- Own technical content of the design package from project initiation through production
- Other duties as assigned
- 0–3 years of engineering design experience
- CAD/3D modeling design experience; proficiency with SolidWorks preferred
- Knowledge of mechanical drafting standards (ASME Y14.5); familiarity with GD&T preferred
- Detail oriented, organized, and able to self-manage across multiple concurrent projects
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a cross-functional team
- Shop time, manufacturing, or other hands-on experience preferred
- Experience with reverse engineering preferred
- Experience with aircraft components and systems preferred
- Experience with inspection equipment (caliper, micrometer, vision system) preferred
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or similar engineering discipline
- Salary position commensurate with experience and skills.

- Work is performed in a standard office environment. Noise level is moderate in the work area.
- Communicating well orally with customers, management and co-workers is crucial.
- Regular use of phone, email with hearing and vision correctable within normal ranges.
- Able to sit for extended periods of time with good manual and finger dexterity for computer work and deep thinking.
- Occasional meetings, reviewing parts, procured items up to 20lbs or meetings and working with other equipment.
