Role Description The Product Engineer role at TDK InvenSense is a full-time, on-site position based in San Jose, CA. In this role, the Product Engineer collaborates with cross-functional teams to support new sensor products from development through mass production, including product characterization, validation, and qualification. Daily responsibilities include analyzing test data, monitoring yield and reliability metrics, defining and improving test plans, and driving root-cause investigations for product and process issues. The Product Engineer also works closely with design, R&D, operations, and quality teams to implement design-for-manufacturability improvements, optimize performance, and ensure product robustness across customer applications. Additional tasks may include customer support for technical inquiries, documentation of product specifications, and continuous improvement of engineering workflows.
Qualifications
Strong Product Engineering and Product Design skills, with experience supporting high-volume manufacturing or complex hardware products.
Excellent Analytical Skills for data analysis, problem solving, and root-cause investigations in production and test environments.
Experience in Research and Development (R&D), including prototyping, characterization, and validation of new products or technologies.
Effective Communication skills for collaborating with cross-functional teams and presenting technical findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or a related technical field.
Familiarity with sensor technology, semiconductor or MEMS manufacturing, reliability testing, and statistical analysis tools (e.g., JMP, Minitab, Python/Matlab) is beneficial.
Experience with automated test systems, data acquisition, and failure analysis methods is a plus.
Ability to work on-site, manage multiple projects, and maintain attention to detail in a fast-paced engineering environment.
