We are currently seeking a Product Engineer to join our team. The position will be in Valley Green, PA. ACS, a division of Amphenol, is the market leader for high speed, high bandwidth electrical connectors for the Telecom/Datacom market (Mobil Networks, Storage, Servers, Routers, Switches, etc.). Our products help to enable the electronics revolution and remain a key enabler for all the major Tier 1 OEM’s globally. Our global headquarters are located in Wallingford, CT and we have design, sales and manufacturing locations globally.

Position Summary

The Product Engineer – Mezzanine Connector Products is responsible for engineering support of assigned products across the full product lifecycle, including New Product Introduction (NPI), production, sustaining engineering, and end-of-life (EOL). This role provides derivative design, customer application support, verification and qualification support, and technical support for new business opportunities.

The position serves as the primary product engineering interface to manufacturing, requiring regular factory presence and direct interaction with suppliers and customers. The Product Engineer works within a global, cross-functional environment to ensure products meet performance, quality, cost, and schedule requirements throughout their lifecycle.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

New Product Introduction (NPI) & Development

Support concept development, feasibility studies, and derivative product design activities
Review, create, and release engineering drawings, tolerances, and specifications in compliance with performance and manufacturability requirements
Develop and modify product designs using 3D CAD tools (SolidWorks)
Define and support product validation, verification, and qualification plans
Prepare and support prototype and pilot builds, including sample preparation for testing and customer evaluation
Collaborate with Manufacturing and Process Engineering to develop scalable, cost-effective production processes
Provide on-site factory support during pilot builds, first article inspections, and production ramp-up

Sustaining Engineering & Production Support

Provide ongoing engineering support for released products, including manufacturing, quality, and field issues
Maintain regular factory floor presence to troubleshoot and resolve production challenges
Participate in incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective/preventive action implementation
Manage engineering changes, documentation updates, and risk mitigation activities
Analyze manufacturing, test, and field performance data to drive continuous improvement
Support customer application inquiries and technical issue resolution

Supplier Interaction & Obsolescence Management

Interface directly with suppliers to resolve component, material, and process-related technical issues
Support supplier qualification activities, technical reviews, and change evaluations
Monitor component, material, and supplier obsolescence risks and assess product impact
Support obsolescence mitigation strategies, including alternate component identification, qualification, and design changes
Participate in Product Change Notices (PCNs) and lifecycle communications

End-of-Life (EOL) Execution

Support product end-of-life planning and execution, including technical assessments and last-time-buy activities
Ensure accurate documentation and technical continuity during product sunset
Support customer transition activities related to EOL products

General

Ensure assigned projects and lifecycle deliverables are completed on schedule
Collaborate effectively with global, cross-functional teams
Travel domestically and internationally approximately 10% of the time to support manufacturing sites, suppliers, and customers

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling using SolidWorks
Minimum 2 years of experience as Mechanical Engineer
Working knowledge of engineering drawing standards (e.g., ASME Y14.5)
Solid understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously
Willingness and ability to travel approximately 10%
