About the Position

We are looking for a skilled PCB Design Engineer to join our engineering team and support the development of advanced printed circuit board designs for RF, microwave, analog, digital, and mixed-signal applications.
This position will focus on converting electrical designs and schematics into reliable, manufacturable PCB layouts while maintaining high levels of signal integrity and electrical performance. The engineer will work with designs operating from MHz through multi-GHz frequencies and will be involved throughout the design, documentation, fabrication, and manufacturing process.

Responsibilities

Create and modify PCB layouts for both single- and multilayer circuit boards.
Develop layouts for RF, microwave, analog, digital, and mixed-signal applications.
Convert engineering schematics into production-ready PCB layouts.
Design and maintain controlled-impedance transmission lines, including microstrip, stripline, and CPWG configurations.
Determine optimal component placement and routing to improve signal integrity and reduce unwanted parasitic effects.
Incorporate appropriate grounding, shielding, isolation, and coupling-control techniques into RF designs.
Consider phase noise, spurious signals, thermal performance, oscillator stability, and overall signal fidelity when developing layouts.
Work with electrical and design engineers to ensure PCB layouts meet circuit and performance requirements.
Implement design practices that reduce EMI, EMC issues, and crosstalk.
Create and maintain complete PCB manufacturing and assembly documentation.
Prepare production files such as Gerber/ODB++, drill files, fabrication drawings, stack-up documentation, and assembly drawings.
Develop PCB stack-ups using appropriate RF materials, including Rogers and hybrid laminate constructions.
Evaluate material characteristics such as dielectric properties and loss tangent and their effect on high-frequency performance.
Coordinate with PCB manufacturers to address design requirements, manufacturability, tolerances, and cost considerations.
Participate in technical design reviews, layout reviews, and tolerance analysis.
Work closely with manufacturing teams to troubleshoot and resolve PCB fabrication and assembly concerns.
Contribute to improving PCB design processes, standards, and documentation.

Required Qualifications & Technical Skills

Strong understanding of RF, microwave, and high-frequency PCB design.
Practical knowledge of controlled impedance, transmission lines, signal integrity, EMI/EMC, grounding, shielding, and RF materials.
Experience using professional PCB design software such as Altium Designer, Cadence Allegro, or PADS.
Knowledge of PCB manufacturing, fabrication processes, assembly requirements, materials, and tolerances.
Ability to design PCBs with a focus on performance, reliability, manufacturability, and cost.
Familiarity with IPC standards and high-reliability PCB design practices.
Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities.
Excellent communication and documentation skills.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Comfortable working independently while collaborating with engineers, manufacturing personnel, and other teams.
Ability to handle ITAR-controlled technical data without requiring a license.

Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
At least 5 years of professional PCB layout/design experience.
Experience with RF, microwave, or other high-frequency PCB applications is strongly preferred.
Experience with complex multilayer PCB layouts and controlled-impedance designs.
Experience developing fabrication and assembly documentation is preferred.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

Ability to remain seated or standing for extended periods.
Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull items weighing up to 50 lbs.
Ability to bend, kneel, crouch, stoop, and reach as necessary.
Ability to use hand tools, manufacturing equipment, and electronic measurement instruments.
Ability to work in both office and manufacturing environments.
Ability to wear required PPE when working in designated areas.
Ability to safely use stairs, ladders, and elevated work platforms.
Ability to work in an environment where exposure to chemicals, fumes, and manufacturing by-products may occur.

Compensation & Benefits

Competitive hourly compensation based on qualifications and experience.
Annual bonus opportunities based on individual and organizational performance.
Medical, dental, and vision insurance.
401(k) retirement savings plan.
Paid Time Off.
Company-paid life insurance.
Company-paid short- and long-term disability coverage.
Opportunities for professional development, advancement, and career growth.

Equal Opportunity Employment

We are committed to maintaining an inclusive workplace and providing equal employment opportunities to qualified candidates. Employment may be subject to successful completion of background and drug screening requirements.
