Job Title: Principal System Integration Engineer (Presently in Hardware Integration into Automotive or Aerospace domain)
Location
Hyderabad, India (M, Tu, Th, Fr- 9 AM to 6 PM in person)
Experience
10–15+ years
Role Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Principal System Integration Engineer to lead end-to-end systems integration across complex hardware and software ecosystems. This role focuses on architecting and delivering robust integration strategies that unify multiple subsystems (hardware, firmware, OS, middleware, applications, and cloud platforms) into cohesive, scalable solutions.
The candidate will define ICD-driven integration frameworks, drive cross-domain engineering alignment, and champion an AI-first, automation-first strategy to reduce operational cost and improve system reliability and scalability.
Key Responsibilities
System Integration Architecture
Define and lead end-to-end system integration architecture across:
Hardware platforms (SoCs, boards, peripherals)
Firmware and BSP layers
Operating systems (Linux/RTOS)
Middleware and application stacks
Cloud and edge platforms
Architect multi-layer integration strategies ensuring seamless interaction between heterogeneous subsystems
Establish design principles for modular, scalable, and reusable system integration
ICD-Based Integration Strategy
Define and institutionalize Interface Control Document (ICD)-driven integration methodology
Specify interface contracts across hardware, firmware, software, and external systems (protocols, timing, APIs, data formats)
Ensure end-to-end traceability of interfaces from requirements to validation
Govern interface versioning, backward compatibility, and change management
Enable subsystem decoupling through well-defined interface abstractions
Core System Integration Leadership
Lead integration of multiple hardware and software subsystems into unified systems
Drive bring-up, validation, and optimization of complex system-of-systems architectures
Resolve cross-layer issues spanning hardware, kernel, drivers, middleware, and applications
Oversee integration sequencing, dependency management, and system readiness
Drive hardware-software co-design and co-validation strategies
AI & Automation Strategy
Develop and execute an AI-first integration and validation strategy
Build automated integration pipelines including system bring-up, regression, and validation
Leverage AI/ML for:
Integration issue prediction and root cause analysis
Intelligent system monitoring and anomaly detection
Automated test generation and validation
Drive automation to minimize manual integration effort and reduce lifecycle cost
Cross-Domain Collaboration
Partner with hardware, firmware, OS, application, cloud, and DevOps teams
Align cross-functional teams on interface definitions, integration milestones, and validation criteria
Act as the technical bridge across multiple engineering domains
Operational Excellence
Ensure systems meet performance, reliability, scalability, and maintainability targets
Establish observability across system layers (hardware to cloud)
Drive continuous integration, continuous testing, and continuous deployment (CI/CT/CD) for system-level validation
Mentorship & Governance
Mentor engineers across integration, platform, and subsystem teams
Lead architecture reviews, integration checkpoints, and design governance
Define and enforce best practices for system integration engineering
Required Skills & Qualifications
Core Technical Expertise (Systems Integration Focus)
Deep expertise in integrating complex systems involving multiple hardware and software subsystems
Strong experience in:
Hardware-software integration (SoCs, boards, peripherals with OS and applications)
Board Support Package (BSP), device drivers, and Linux kernel interactions
Embedded systems integration (boot flow, device tree, hardware abstraction)
Proven ability to debug cross-layer issues (hardware ↔ firmware ↔ OS ↔ application)
Strong understanding of:
System bring-up and platform enablement
Interconnects and protocols (PCIe, Ethernet, SPI, I2C, UART, etc.)
Real-time and distributed system integration challenges
Expertise in ICD creation, interface definition, and contract-based integration
Hands-on experience with integration tools, debuggers, and performance analyzers
Software & Platform Skills
Strong programming skills in C/C++, Python, and scripting for automation
Experience with Linux systems, RTOS, and embedded platforms
Familiarity with middleware integration, APIs, and microservices (where applicable)
Experience in CI/CD pipelines and automated test frameworks
AI & Automation
Experience with automation frameworks for system integration and validation
Exposure to AIOps, intelligent orchestration, or AI-driven observability
Demonstrated impact in reducing integration and operational costs through automation
Preferred Skills
Experience in virtualization, simulation, or emulation environments
Familiarity with digital twins or system modeling
Exposure to edge computing, IoT systems, or distributed platforms
Knowledge of security integration across system layers
Experience in automotive, semiconductor, or networking domains
Behavioral Competencies
Strong system-level thinking and architectural mindset
Ability to operate in high ambiguity and complex environments
Excellent cross-functional leadership and influencing skills
High ownership and accountability
Passion for engineering excellence and innovation
Education
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or related field
