Our Client Is Hiring: Principal R&D Engineer – Vascular Innovation
Are you a visionary engineer looking to shape the future of minimally invasive medicine? We are sourcing a Principal R&D Engineer to join a world-class team in St. Paul, MN, driving next-generation advancements in the vascular and interventional cardiology space.
In this high-visibility, technical leadership role, you will leverage multidisciplinary engineering expertise and advanced materials knowledge to bring life-changing medical devices from concept to clinical reality.
The Opportunity & Impact
Pioneer New Solutions: Conceptualize, prototype, and develop cutting-edge, cost-effective devices and bioprosthetic implants that solve complex clinical challenges.
Technical & Project Leadership: Own full lifecycle product development, drive project planning, identify risks, and guide cross-functional teams toward successful product launches.
Clinical & Industry Collaboration: Work closely with physicians, outside consultants, vendors, and the medical community to align engineering designs with evolving clinical needs.
End-to-End Development: Lead bench testing, animal studies, clinical evaluations, and establish rigorous requirements and specifications under strict FDA/ISO design controls.
What You’ll Bring
Deep R&D Expertise: 10+ years of R&D engineering experience, with a proven track record of designing and testing complex medical devices (interventional cardiology or vascular experience is highly preferred).
Manufacturing & Materials Mastery: Deep knowledge of design for manufacturability (DFM). Hands-on experience with plastics injection molding, extrusion, or advanced metals (Stainless Steel and Nitinol wires/bonding) is required.
Modern Engineering Toolset: Proficiency with CAD software (SolidWorks or ProE) and experience with advanced design methodologies (Six Sigma, Analytical Design).
Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
Mobility: Ability to travel up to 15% (including occasional international travel) for physician visits and design reviews.
