Seeking an experienced Principal Precision Engineer to join an innovative engineering and technology organization focused on developing advanced manufacturing systems, precision machinery, and next-generation production solutions.
This is a senior-level technical role responsible for designing, developing, and implementing high-precision machine systems that provide competitive advantages, enable new product development, and support advanced manufacturing processes. The successful candidate will work closely with multidisciplinary teams across research, development, engineering, and manufacturing functions.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with research, development, engineering, and manufacturing teams involved in new product and equipment development.
Design and analyse precision machinery, machine components, fixtures, and automation systems with a focus on robustness, reliability, and performance.
Solve complex mechanical and precision engineering challenges associated with advanced manufacturing processes.
Develop a deep understanding of process requirements and translate them into effective equipment and system designs.
Design and build precision motion systems for prototype and production environments.
Integrate commercially available technologies into custom machine solutions.
Manage and collaborate with external machine builders, suppliers, and system integrators.
Develop proof-of-concept prototypes using laboratory and testing facilities.
Work closely with multidisciplinary teams including controls engineers, process engineers, scientists, and manufacturing specialists.
Support equipment installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement activities.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Precision Engineering, or a related discipline (Master's degree preferred).
Minimum 15 years of engineering experience in a relevant technical environment.
At least 3–5 years of direct experience in precision engineering.
Strong understanding of precision engineering principles and methodologies.
Proven experience designing and developing precision motion systems.
Proficiency with CAD software such as SolidWorks, Inventor, or equivalent.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to engineering excellence.
Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required to support projects and business needs.
Preferred Experience
Strong knowledge of precision machining processes, materials, and manufacturing techniques.
Experience with metrology equipment and measurement systems such as CMMs, laser interferometers, and related technologies.
Ability to work effectively within diverse, cross-functional project teams.
Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Self-motivated with a results-oriented mindset.
Demonstrated innovation and technical curiosity.
Experience researching prior art and contributing to intellectual property development and patent generation.
