Role Overview
We are looking for a Principal Engineer/Architect – Data Plane & Proxy (GenAI Focus) with deep expertise in network data plane and proxy development to help design and build high-performance, scalable systems at the core of Aryaka’s platform.

This role sits at the intersection of networking, security, and emerging GenAI/Agent-driven architectures, and is ideal for someone who thrives on solving complex system challenges while also elevating the engineering team through mentorship and technical leadership.
What You’ll Do
Design and develop high-performance data plane systems for proxying, inspection, and traffic processing
Build and optimize forward/reverse proxy architectures with a focus on scalability, reliability, and low latency
Contribute to and extend Envoy-based proxy infrastructure and related ecosystems
Work on deep packet processing, protocol parsing, and application-layer inspection
Integrate GenAI / Agent-based capabilities into networking and security workflows
Lead system design discussions, drive architecture decisions, and own critical components end-to-end
Diagnose and resolve complex performance and production issues across distributed systems
Collaborate with globally distributed teams (including India) to deliver high-quality features
Mentor junior engineers and foster a strong culture of technical excellence and knowledge sharing
What We’re Looking For
Core Requirements
10+ years of experience in systems engineering / networking software development
Strong programming expertise in C/C++
Deep understanding of network data plane concepts
Hands-on experience building or working with proxies (forward/reverse), L7 systems, or traffic processing engines
Solid knowledge of TCP/IP, HTTP/HTTPS, TLS, and modern web protocols
Proven experience in system design, scalability, and performance optimization
Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills in complex distributed environments
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Envoy Proxy or similar modern proxy frameworks
Exposure to SASE / SSE / security systems (SWG, CASB, ZTNA, DLP)
Familiarity with Kubernetes and cloud-native architectures
Experience or strong interest in GenAI, LLMs, or Agent-based systems
Experience with deep packet inspection, protocol parsing, or security enforcement engines
