Work Model: Onsite
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Employment Type: 1-Year Contract
Pay: $90 to $100 per hour
Position Overview
We are seeking a Principal Electrical Design Engineer to provide senior technical leadership across complex embedded hardware and electrical product-development initiatives.
This is a hands-on principal-level engineering role for someone who can take on difficult and unique electrical design challenges, help define system architecture, guide design decisions, resolve complex technical issues, and support products throughout the development lifecycle into production.
The successful candidate will operate as a technical authority within the engineering organization, working across multiple electrical engineering disciplines while mentoring other engineers and collaborating with cross-functional teams, customers, and technical partners.
What You Will Do
Lead and advise the design and validation of complex embedded electrical hardware for challenging product applications.
Develop and review new embedded hardware, circuit, schematic, and PCB-related designs using established engineering tools and practices.
Evaluate technical requirements and help define the appropriate electrical system architecture for new designs.
Lead resolution of complex electrical design issues, technical trade-offs, and engineering risks.
Apply broad electrical engineering knowledge across areas such as analog, digital, power, RF, and related board-level technologies as required by the application.
Evaluate and select electronic components based on technical, performance, and product requirements.
Work with component manufacturers and technical suppliers regarding component capabilities, roadmaps, and potential enhancements.
Support hardware through design, development, validation, design review, issue resolution, and transition toward production.
Lead and participate in electrical and cross-functional design reviews.
Communicate complex technical information effectively to engineering teams, customers, and other stakeholders.
Assess project risks and contribute to technical milestones within a structured product-development process.
Mentor and coach less experienced engineers in electrical design methods, analysis, and engineering tools.
Provide technical leadership to projects involving multiple engineers.
Identify and help develop innovative technical solutions, including potentially patentable concepts.
What You Bring
Significant experience designing complex embedded or electronic hardware in a product-development environment.
Demonstrated ownership of electrical design decisions at the board, subsystem, or system level.
Experience translating technical requirements into electrical architectures and practical design solutions.
Strong understanding of board-level electrical engineering concepts and the interaction of multiple electrical disciplines.
Experience with embedded hardware, circuit design, schematic development, PCB design oversight, hardware validation, or closely related electrical product-development work.
Ability to independently evaluate technical problems, manage engineering trade-offs, and drive complex issues toward resolution.
Experience participating in or leading technical and design reviews.
Hands-on familiarity with electrical development and diagnostic tools such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and simulation tools.
Understanding of electrical design practices such as component derating, DFMEA, component selection, and design validation.
Ability to work effectively with cross-functional and geographically distributed teams.
Strong technical communication skills and the ability to mentor or guide other engineers.
Bachelor's, Master's, or doctoral degree in Electrical Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant engineering experience.
Preferred Background
Candidates will be especially strong if they bring experience with several of the following:
Analog, digital, power-supply, RF, or other complex board-level electrical design disciplines.
Full product-development lifecycle experience from architecture and early design through validation and production.
New product introduction or production-release activities.
Technical leadership of multi-engineer electrical projects.
Customer-facing technical discussions or engineering consultation.
Electronic component selection and interaction with component manufacturers.
Structured stage-gate product-development environments.
Relevant product safety, regulatory, or industry engineering standards.
Technical innovation, intellectual-property development, or patent-related engineering work.
Experience Level
The original profile targets approximately 12+ years of relevant embedded hardware or electrical design experience, but years alone will not determine fit.
Candidates with fewer years should still be considered when their background demonstrates the technical depth, design ownership, architecture experience, problem-solving capability, and engineering leadership expected at the Principal level.
