You Are
UST is searching for a Pre-Si validation Engineer to test client platforms. Your primary role is to use your deep industry knowledge and validation skills to test/triage & debug issues.
The Opportunity
Execute Pre-Si Validation using emulation tools like Simics
Test computer platforms and sub-systems
Triage and debug issues, filing bugs accurately
Take ownership of bugs and follow them through to closure
Enable new features on Platform and OS
Collaborate with clients on platform validation
Adapt to changing requirements and move between projects as needed
Create and manage test content and test cases
Support ongoing platform validation and quality assurance
This position description identifies the responsibilities and tasks typically associated with the performance of the position. Other relevant essential functions may be required.
What You Need
Deep understanding of PC architecture (motherboard, PCIe, USB, USB-C, TBT, SATA, PCH, ICH, BIOS, UEFI, RAM, CPU, GPU)
Good understanding of system power states (ACPI – S-states, C-states, D-states)
Testing experience with subsystems (Audio, Camera, Multimedia, WiFi, Bluetooth, WiGig, sensors)
Proficiency with RDP, KVM, Putty/tShell
Understanding of Windows OS and its features
Manual and automation validation experience
HLK testing experience
Test content creation and test case management
Strong analytical and debugging skills
Bug lifecycle and management tools knowledge (Jira, HSD, VSO)
Good communication skills
Ability to work independently with clients
Ability to identify and resolve issues
Experience:
2-4 years of Platform debug experience with BIOS/FW/platform ingredients
Pre-Si validation environment experience
Platform/OS troubleshooting and triage experience
Nice to Have:
Test automation using Python, PowerShell, or C#
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering
Compensation can differ depending on factors including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, education, and level of experience. UST provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired in various U.S. markets as set forth below.
Role Location: Oregon
Compensation Range: $56,000-$84,000
Benefits
Full-time, regular employees accrue a minimum of 10 days of paid vacation per year, receive 6 days of paid sick leave each year (pro-rated for new hires throughout the year), 10 paid holidays, and are eligible for paid bereavement leave and jury duty. They are eligible to participate in the Company’s 401(k) Retirement Plan with employer matching. They and their dependents residing in the US are eligible for medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as the following Company-paid Employee Only benefits: basic life insurance, accidental death and disability insurance, and short- and long-term disability benefits. Regular employees may purchase additional voluntary short-term disability benefits, and participate in a Health Savings Account (HSA) as well as a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) for healthcare, dependent child care, and/or commuting expenses as allowable under IRS guidelines. Benefits offerings vary in Puerto Rico.
Part-time employees receive 6 days of paid sick leave each year (pro-rated for new hires throughout the year) and are eligible to participate in the Company’s 401(k) Retirement Plan with employer matching.
