Job Title: Power Electronics Technology Leader
Location: Rockledge, FL
Type: Full-Time, Permanent (Onsite)
About the Role
We're looking for a seasoned power electronics expert to take the technical reins on next-generation power conversion systems built for commercial, industrial, and defense customers. This is a high-impact leadership position for an engineer who enjoys tackling hard technical problems, growing engineering talent, and driving products from initial concept through full production.
You'll act as the go-to technical authority for our power electronics initiatives — setting direction, solving tough design problems, and helping define where our technology roadmap goes next.
Responsibilities
Own the architecture and end-to-end development of AC-DC, DC-DC, and DC-AC converters spanning 1 kW to over 150 kW
Lead engineering efforts on high-speed motor drive systems, from 10,000 RPM up past 150,000 RPM
Design and refine digital control algorithms, filtering approaches, and closed-loop control schemes for power systems
Direct the design and validation of power stages, gate drivers, and sensing circuitry built on SiC and GaN semiconductor platforms
Evaluate and integrate high-power wide-bandgap modules into advanced energy conversion designs
Manage the full PCB development cycle — design, layout, fabrication, and testing — for analog and mixed-signal boards
Build embedded control solutions using DSPs, microcontrollers, and FPGAs
Shepherd projects through every phase: concept, prototyping, testing, qualification, and production release
Mentor engineers across disciplines and help develop technical talent on the team
Partner with mechanical, thermal, manufacturing, and systems engineering groups to solve cross-functional design challenges
Lend technical expertise to proposals and customer-facing business development efforts
What You Bring — Required
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (accredited program), 3.3 GPA minimum
5+ years of hands-on power electronics design experience
Proven track record designing, testing, and debugging power conversion systems rated 100 kW or higher
Solid experience with variable frequency drives (VFDs) and motor control
Hands-on background in power electronics simulation, lab testing, and system integration
Strong grasp of both analog and digital circuit design fundamentals
U.S. Citizenship required (ITAR-restricted program)
What Sets You Apart — Preferred
Master's or PhD in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
Direct experience with SiC/GaN wide-bandgap devices
Firmware/embedded programming experience across microcontrollers, DSPs, or FPGAs
Proficiency with MATLAB/Simulink, PLECS, LTspice, or comparable simulation tools
Prior experience leading teams or acting as a subject matter expert
Background in aerospace, defense, energy, or advanced industrial product development
