Power Electronics Engineer (3+ Years Experience)

Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated Power Electronics Engineer with 3+ years of hands-on experience in designing, simulating, prototyping, testing, and validating power electronic converters. The ideal candidate should possess a strong foundation in power conversion, control systems, and hardware validation, with a passion for building high-performance products from concept to production.

Key Responsibilities
Power Converter Design
Design and develop high-efficiency AC-DC power conversion systems, including Bridgeless Totem-Pole PFC, Interleaved PFC, and related front-end topologies.
Design and develop DC-DC converters, including Buck, Boost, Buck-Boost, Flyback, Forward, LLC Resonant, Phase Shifted Full Bridge (PSFB), and Dual Active Bridge (DAB) converters.
Perform component selection and magnetic component sizing for power converter designs.
Optimize designs for efficiency, power density, thermal performance, and reliability.
Simulation & Analysis
Perform circuit simulations using LTspice, PSIM, PLECS, MATLAB/Simulink, or equivalent tools.
Conduct:
Efficiency analysis
Loss calculations
Thermal analysis
Control loop compensation
Stability analysis
Worst-case design verification
Hardware Development & Validation
Prototype, test, debug, and validate power electronic hardware.
Develop and execute validation plans covering:
Efficiency
Load and line regulation
Transient response
Protection mechanisms
Thermal performance
Reliability and endurance testing
Support hardware bring-up, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis.
Laboratory Testing
Utilize laboratory equipment including:
Oscilloscopes
Differential and current probes
Power analyzers
Electronic loads
DC power supplies
Function generators
Thermal imaging cameras
Capture and analyze switching waveforms and converter performance.
Product Development
Participate in schematic reviews and PCB design reviews.
Support PCB bring-up and debugging activities.
Collaborate with firmware, PCB, mechanical, and manufacturing teams throughout product development.
Prepare design documentation, test reports, validation reports, and engineering change documentation.

Required Qualifications
Graduate or post-graduate degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Power Electronics, or a related discipline.
3+ years of industry experience in power electronics design and development.
Strong understanding of power electronics fundamentals and switching converter topologies.
Hands-on experience in designing and testing AC-DC and DC-DC converters.
Knowledge of power semiconductor devices including MOSFETs, IGBTs, and Wide Bandgap devices (SiC/GaN).
Understanding of PWM techniques, analog control circuits, digital control concepts, and feedback compensation.
Familiarity with EMI/EMC considerations, thermal management, magnetic component design, and protection circuits.
Experience with simulation tools such as LTspice, PSIM, PLECS, or MATLAB/Simulink.
Practical experience with schematic capture and PCB design tools such as KiCad, Altium Designer, or equivalent.
Hands-on experience in PCB bring-up, debugging, rework, and SMD/through-hole soldering.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
Good written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Skills
Experience working with GaN or SiC-based power converters.
Exposure to EV chargers, onboard chargers, DC fast chargers, battery chargers, solar inverters, UPS systems, or industrial power supplies.
Knowledge of digital power control using DSPs or microcontrollers.
Familiarity with high-frequency magnetics and transformer design.
Understanding of DFM, DFT, and product qualification processes.
Experience using Git or similar version control systems.
