We’re Hiring: Power Electronics Engineer
Full time | Core team
LAT Aerospace | Civil
LAT Aerospace is developing next-generation aerospace systems from first principles. This includes a hybrid electric aircraft that takes off and lands within a space of a parking lot, Defence systems built from ground up and scalable Gas Turbine Engines.
The Power Electronics Engineer role is a hands-on one spanning power conversion, power distribution, motor control, embedded hardware, and high-power electrical systems. You will take hardware from architecture and schematic design through PCB development, fabrication, testing, and integration.
What you’ll do
Design and develop power electronics for hybrid-electric powertrains, including rectifiers, power distribution board, PCUs, DC-DC converters, motor controllers/ESCs, and associated power boards.
Develop schematics, PCB layouts, power stages, gate drives, sensing, protection, and control interfaces.
Design and optimize power distribution architecture across generators, batteries, motors, and electrical loads.
Perform component selection, electrical sizing, thermal analysis, failure mode identification, and derating for aerospace applications.
Develop simulation models for converters, motor drives, power distribution, and system-level electrical architecture for appropriate software in loop simulations.
Lead prototype development including board bring-up, debugging, characterization, hardware validation and integration.
Design and implement protection, isolation, grounding, current/voltage sensing, fault detection, and safety mechanisms.
Develop test setups and instrumentation for power electronics characterization and system validation.
Diagnose hardware failures and drive rapid design iterations based on test results.
Document designs, test procedures, validation results, and engineering decisions.
What we’re looking for
4+ years of professional experience in aerospace, EV, industrial, or other high-performance electrical systems.
Postgraduate degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, or a related field is preferred
Strong fundamentals in power conversion, rectification, switching circuits, and inverter systems.
Hands-on experience designing and debugging power electronics hardware from schematic through working prototypes.
Experience with rectifiers, DC-DC converters, inverters, motor controllers/ESCs, or power distribution systems.
Experience with power semiconductor devices, gate drives, magnetics, current/voltage sensing, and thermal management.
Strong PCB design experience, including multilayer boards and high-current/high-frequency layouts.
Experience with simulation tools such as PLECS, LTspice, PSIM, MATLAB/Simulink, or equivalent.
Familiarity with HV/LV safety, isolation, grounding, protection, EMI/EMC, and electrical fault handling.
Comfortable working directly with high-power hardware, oscilloscopes, power analyzers, power supplies, and other test equipment.
Why LAT?
No hierarchy beyond strength of ideas.
Rapid hardware iteration culture.
Own the complete journey from engineering design to flight-ready hardware.
