A leading power electronics organization is seeking a Power Electronics Engineer to support the design, development, and validation of high-power power conversion systems. This is a senior, hands-on technical role focused on AC/DC and DC/DC power electronics, embedded controls, system integration, testing, qualification, and customer-facing engineering support.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience designing high-power converters and working across hardware, firmware, controls, and validation. This role requires the ability to lead technical decisions, evaluate tradeoffs, support production readiness, and communicate clearly with internal engineering teams, customers, suppliers, and senior stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and validate high-power power conversion systems, including AC/DC converters, DC/DC converters, inverters, rectifiers, and grid-connected equipment
Lead designs from concept through feasibility, prototyping, testing, qualification, and production release
Work across hardware, firmware, controls, and mechanical constraints to deliver reliable, manufacturable power electronics products
Evaluate design tradeoffs across efficiency, reliability, thermal performance, cost, manufacturability, and system requirements
Support integration of embedded firmware and control algorithms into power electronics hardware designs
Conduct system-level testing, troubleshooting, failure analysis, and engineering evaluations
Identify and resolve EMI, thermal, reliability, switching, and protection-related design challenges
Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams, product teams, suppliers, and customer-facing stakeholders
Communicate technical decisions, design constraints, risks, and tradeoffs to senior internal and external stakeholders
Create and maintain technical documentation, including design reports, test procedures, validation plans, and engineering analyses

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent relevant experience
Strong hands-on experience designing high-power AC/DC or DC/DC power electronics systems
Experience with power conversion products such as UPS systems, inverters, rectifiers, BESS, EV charging, renewable energy systems, industrial power systems, or grid-interactive equipment
Knowledge of switching devices, gate driver design, protection circuits, and real-world switching loss or thermal tradeoffs
Experience with embedded controls and firmware concepts such as PWM, PLL, PID control, C/C++, MATLAB/Simulink, DSPs, FPGAs, or real-time microcontrollers
Ability to balance efficiency, reliability, cost, manufacturability, thermal performance, and system-level requirements
Experience with system-level testing, debugging, validation, failure analysis, and production readiness activities
Familiarity with advanced power electronics design areas such as magnetics, EMI/EMC mitigation, filtering, thermal design, or high-frequency switching systems
Exposure to grid interconnection, safety, or power electronics standards such as IEEE 1547, UL 1741, IEC 62109, NEC, or related grid codes
Strong technical documentation, customer communication, stakeholder management, and cross-functional engineering leadership skills
