Job Description - Power Electronics Design Lead (P3)

Lead the end-to-end development and integration of advanced power electronic systems for electric vehicles, renewable energy, and industrial automation. Champion system architecture, cross-functional collaboration, and adherence to global safety and performance standards. Resolve complex system-level challenges—including thermal, EMI/EMC, and functional safety—while mentoring engineering teams and fostering a culture of innovation, quality, and continuous improvement throughout the product lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the development and integration of power electronic systems—including AC-DC, DC-AC, and DC-DC converters, inverters,—for electric vehicles, renewable energy platforms, and industrial converters.
Define system architecture, topology, requirements, and interface specifications for industrial power converters, charging platforms, high-voltage drivetrain systems.
Guiding designs from concept to mass production.
Collaborate cross-functionally across hardware, software, mechanical, integration, testing, production, supply chain and project management teams to ensure seamless product development and successful delivery within time.
Ensure compliance with relevant international safety and performance standards.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex system issues related to system behaviour, thermal management, electromagnetic compatibility/interference (EMC/EMI), and power quality.
Lead detailed design reviews and ensure comprehensive validation and verification coverage across system interfaces and critical performance metrics, including hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing where applicable and safety assessments.
Ensure the product meets quality, cost and timeline requirements.
Oversee the creation and maintenance of detailed technical documentation, including schematics, Bills of Materials (BOM), specifications, test protocols, validation reports, and production drawings.
Provide mentorship to junior engineers while fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and driving continuous improvement in engineering processes and best practices.

Required Qualifications & Experience

MTech . in Power Electronics specialization or related discipline.
10–15 +years of experience designing and developing power electronic systems, preferably in automotive or industrial sectors with 10kW and above ratings
Deep knowledge of power conversion topologies (AC/DC, DC/DC, DC/AC), magnetic component design, and switching device characteristics
End to end product lifecycle development experience
Proficiency in control system theory, including PID and digital control algorithms, and implementation on embedded platforms (microcontrollers, FPGAs).
Solid hands-on experience with industry-standard simulation and design tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, PLECS, LTspice, Altium Designer, and PCB design suites.
Familiarity with embedded software and firmware development for power converter control (e.g., C/C++, microcontrollers, FPGA programming).
Proven track record of successfully taking products from concept through validation, functional safety assessment, and mass production launch.
Understanding and application of functional safety principles and standards (ISO 26262, ASIL) and systems engineering methodologies (FTA, FMEA, V-Model/System V).
Knowledge of electric vehicle systems and high-power applications, including thermal management, safety, and EMC/EMI requirements.
Passion for innovation, high ethical standards, and a commitment to engineering excellence and product quality

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working directly with automotive OEMs or Tier-1 suppliers.
Experiencei n 20kW + converters and 200 to 1000V range
Exposure to model-based design approaches and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulation environments.
Familiarity with automotive and industrial communication protocols such as CAN, LIN, and Modbus.
Excellent documentation skills, strong interpersonal and communication abilities, and a proven ability to collaborate effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
Knowledge of standards such as IEC 61851, IEC 62133, CE, UL, IS standards, ISO 26262, ASIL, OCPP+ and IATF 16949.
