We are looking for a Pattern Design & Development Engineer with strong practical knowledge of sand-casting pattern design, methoding, CAD and CAM.

Key Responsibilities

* Study customer 3D component drawings/models and develop production-ready sand-casting patterns.
* Design pattern plates, match plates, core boxes, loose pieces and other pattern tooling.
* Apply appropriate shrinkage, machining and draft allowances in pattern design.
* Understand and implement the approved casting method provided by the Methoding Engineer.
* Coordinate closely with the Methoding Engineer to ensure correct parting lines, core requirements, pattern orientation and methoding requirements are incorporated into the pattern.
* Develop accurate 3D CAD models of patterns and tooling.
* Generate CAM programs and tool paths for pattern/tooling development.
* Select suitable machining strategies and optimize tool paths for accuracy, surface finish and efficiency.
* Identify pattern-related issues during development and make necessary design modifications.
* Participate in pattern trials and first-off casting development.
* Analyze trial feedback and implement required pattern corrections.
* Maintain CAD models, CAM programs and pattern revision records.
* Coordinate with Methoding, Production, Quality and Pattern Development teams for timely development of new patterns.

Required Skills

* Strong practical knowledge of sand-casting pattern design and development.
* Good understanding of foundry methoding and casting processes.
* Proficiency in 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Creo, NX or equivalent.
* Practical knowledge of CAM programming.
* Good understanding of shrinkage, draft and machining allowances.
* Knowledge of pattern plates, core boxes, core prints and loose pieces.
* Ability to understand casting methoding and translate it into practical pattern designs.
* Good problem-solving ability and a hands-on approach to pattern development.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate should be capable of handling the pattern-development cycle:

3D Component Model → Understand Methoding → Pattern Design → Pattern Tooling Design → CAM Programming → Pattern Development → Trial & Correction

Important: A dedicated Methoding Engineer will be responsible for the primary casting method development. However, strong methoding knowledge is essential for this position so that the candidate can properly understand, interpret and implement methoding requirements in the pattern design.

Candidates with hands-on foundry pattern-development experience will be preferred over candidates with only CAD/software experience.
