Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly knowledgeable Optical Test & Qualification Engineer to support our high-demand vendors. This is more than just a testing role—it is a hands-on leadership position. For a candidate who demonstrates technical excellence, initiative, and the ability to bridge the gap between technical data and business strategy
Responsibilities:
Drive Quality Excellence:

Analyze & Optimize:
· Compile and analyze scripts and test data; act as the primary lead for recommending changes to test methods and processes.
Strategic Sourcing:
· Review and recommend the purchase of new test equipment and collaborate with external vendors to procure tools that elevate our services to clients.
Root Cause Analysis:
· Lead the resolution of vendor-related test issues and equipment failures; identify and log root causes and present formal corrective action recommendations to management.
Continuous Improvement:
· Refine test processes, tools, and methodologies while communicating plans to enhance production test yields.
High-Level Collaboration:
· Act as a key technical liaison, requiring the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly to both high-level engineers and executive management.
Ownership:
· You will own the testing lifecycle and guide the future of our testing operations and act as a technical authority in a high-growth environment.
Transceiver Testing:
· Plan and execute comprehensive testing procedures for optical transceivers using thermal chambers, including smart optical network debugging, test facilitation, and cabling config.
· Configure and execute Layer 2/3 traffic tests using Ethernet protocol traffic generators (Ixia/Spirent)
· Assess the impact of temperature variations on transceiver performance, including optical signal integrity, power consumption, and reliability.
· Liaise with third party vendors to complete qualification rounds
Test Automation:
· Ensure full automated testing setup and maintain lab operations.
· Develop and implement test Python automation scripts and tools to streamline testing processes.
· Collect and analyze test data to identify performance trends and potential issues.
Testbed Debugging:
· Independently undergo detailed debugging on networking equipment including optical transceivers, fiber patch panels, and high-end ethernet switches via Linux CLI
Inventory Documentation:
· Maintain detailed records of test configurations, procedures, and results.
· Keep records of incoming and outgoing inventories via Asset Management software
Equipment Maintenance:
· Ensure the proper maintenance and calibration of thermal chambers and test equipment.
· Troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues to minimize downtime.
· Manage fiber network and maintain organization as needed.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in Computer or Electrical Engineering.
· Proficient in writing and maintaining Python-based code to automate test flows, control lab instruments, and log results at scale.
· Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills with a proven ability to interface effectively with senior-level engineers and management.
· Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in optical test engineering and transceivers.
· Proven track record with complex testing of optical devices, specifically 400G/800G/1.6TB transceiver modules and switches.
· Expert-level skill in setting up and running tests using Traffic Generators (e.g. IXIA), BERTs, power meters, spectrum analyzers, and oscilloscopes.
· Skilled at turning complex data into comprehensive technical reports and actionable executive summaries.
