Role Overview
We are looking for a hands-on NPI Engineer – Battery Electronics to work closely with R&D, Production, Quality, and external vendors to industrialize new battery products and continuously improve existing battery manufacturing and testing processes.
Key Responsibilities
Drive NPI activities from R&D/prototype stage through pilot builds and mass production.
Act as the bridge between R&D and Plant, translating product requirements into production and testing requirements.
Ensure new battery components, BMS, electronics, and design changes are production-ready and implemented correctly.
Own and improve BMS testers, battery testers, EOL testing, and PDI processes, including test coverage, reliability, cycle time, and traceability.
Troubleshoot electronics, BMS, tester, and production issues and drive root-cause analysis and permanent corrective actions.
Define requirements for and coordinate development of jigs, fixtures, testers, and special-purpose machines with external vendors.
Evaluate and implement new machines, automation, and process improvements to improve quality, productivity, cost, and cycle time.
Work with R&D on DFM/DFT, engineering changes, BOM changes, and design improvements to ensure manufacturability and testability.
Develop and improve SOPs, work instructions, process controls, checklists, and validation procedures for new and existing processes.
Analyze production and tester data to identify yield losses, recurring failures, bottlenecks, and improvement opportunities.
Coordinate with vendors on technical requirements, design reviews, trials, commissioning, and equipment validation.
Support production during new product launches, ramp-up, and day-to-day technical issues.
Use basic programming/scripting for test automation, data analysis, debugging, or process improvement.
Ensure proper traceability and documentation of battery testing, production processes, and engineering changes.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronics, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
1-4 years of experience in NPI, manufacturing engineering, test engineering, battery, BMS, or electronics manufacturing.
Good understanding of basic electronics and electrical systems.
Understanding of battery packs, BMS, and battery testing is preferred.
Hands on experience in hardware debugging, circuit-level troubleshooting, and signal analysis using Multimeters, Oscilloscopes, and DSOs.
Hands-on experience with testers, jigs, fixtures, production equipment, or automation.
Basic programming/scripting knowledge in Python, C/C++, LabVIEW, or similar.
Familiarity with CAN, UART, RS485, Ethernet, or Modbus is a plus.
Understanding of root-cause analysis, PFMEA, Control Plans, process validation, and continuous improvement.
Strong communication and vendor-management skills.
Comfortable working hands-on at the plant/shop floor and independently driving problems to closure.
