Job Title: NPI Engineer
Location: Bengaluru | Job Type: Full-Time | Experience Level: 7-10 years
Job Summary
We are seeking a results-driven NPI Engineer with rich experience in leading the transition of electronic products from design to volume manufacturing. The candidate will help us transition our Module (SOM) products from design to mass production. The candidate will ensure smooth product launches by coordinating design validation, process readiness, supplier engagement, and production ramp-up activities. Startup or early-stage product manufacturing experience is highly desirable. Expect the candidate to be the bridge between hardware engineering, software, procurement, quality, and manufacturing teams to ensure timely and successful execution of deliverables in a fast-paced, often ambiguous environment.
Key Responsibilities
Drive SOM module projects from prototype to mass production.
Develop and implement NPI plans, including build schedules, material readiness, and process validation.
Work closely with design teams to ensure manufacturability and testability of SOM modules.
Provide feedback on PCB layout, BOM selection, and assembly processes.
Lead pilot production runs, analyse results, and implement corrective actions.
Ensure smooth handoff from engineering to manufacturing teams.
Create and maintain process documentation, assembly instructions, and test procedures.
Define control plans and quality checkpoints for SOM production.
Collaborate with contract manufacturers and suppliers to ensure readiness.
Monitor supply chain risks and drive resolution before mass production.
Support validation testing (functional, environmental, reliability).
Drive root cause analysis and corrective actions for early build issues.
Capture lessons learned and feed them into future SOM programs.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Electrical, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering.
7 to 10 years of experience in electronics manufacturing or NPI roles, preferably with SOM or embedded systems.
Strong knowledge of SMT processes, PCB assembly, and electronic module testing.
Experience with DFM/DFT, PPAP, and APQP methodologies.
Familiarity with quality standards (IPC, ISO, RoHS).
Skills & Competencies
Project management and cross-functional collaboration.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Hands-on experience with pilot builds and manufacturing equipment.
Excellent communication and documentation abilities.
