Meet Life Sciences is partnering with a stealth neurotechnology company in San Francisco that is developing cutting-edge brain-computer interface technology to help restore autonomy and improve quality of life for people living with disabilities. They are hiring a Senior NPI Engineer to bridge design and manufacturing for novel hardware systems someone who can take complex, miniaturized medical device assemblies from prototype through production-ready design transfer.
Team Culture Join a small, dedicated team of knowledgeable and motivated professionals. Our early-stage environment offers the opportunity to take ownership of broad decisions with significant and long-lasting impact. We emphasize continuous learning and growth, fostering cross-functional collaboration where your contributions are vital to our success.
Job Description We are seeking an experienced Senior NPI Engineer to drive New Product Introduction activities for hardware systems at the intersection of medical device engineering and advanced neurotechnology. You will serve as the liaison between design and manufacturing teams, ensuring custom hardware components and assemblies can be built to meet design intent from early prototype through commercial scale. Your work will directly support the translation of breakthrough research into reliable, manufacturable product.
Role Responsibilities
Collaborate with R&D to optimize parts and assemblies for manufacturability, reliability, and yield from prototype to scale.
Create and refine CAD models, 2D drawings, and tolerance stack-up analyses to ensure assembly success.
Identify and develop inspection protocols and metrology methods suited to complex, miniaturized hardware.
Partner with manufacturing to develop custom fixtures and tooling, ensuring process controls align with design intent and CTQ requirements.
Drive dFMEA and pFMEA activities to identify and mitigate design and process risks.
Lead failure analysis investigations to resolve complex design, material, or process issues.
Manage contract manufacturing partners across both personnel and processes, including machining, polymer processing, and precision assembly.
Role Qualifications
Required
Minimum 7 years of industry experience in medical device product development.
Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience with SolidWorks or equivalent CAD tools.
Demonstrated expertise in DFM/DFA, GD&T, tolerance stack-up analysis, and inspection methods.
Experience managing contract and component manufacturers through NPI and design transfer.
Experience working within a formal quality system, including design controls and risk management.
Preferred
Experience with wearable, body-worn, or miniaturized device hardware.
Familiarity with biocompatible materials, flex interconnects, and precision enclosure design.
Experience driving dFMEA and pFMEA in a regulated development environment.
Background working alongside Quality and Regulatory teams on DHF and design transfer documentation.
What We Offer
An opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects that transform patients' lives in a highly collaborative environment.
Competitive compensation, including stock options.
Comprehensive benefits package.
401(k) program with matching contributions.
Confidentiality All applications will be treated confidentially. Applicants may be asked to sign an NDA after the initial stages of the interview process.
