NPI Engineer – Semiconductor Capital Equipment | Austin, TX
I'm working with a semiconductor capital equipment company in Austin, TX that's scaling nanoimprint lithography technology from development into full high-volume manufacturing and they're looking for an NPI Engineer to help get them there.
This is a genuinely hands-on role. You'll sit at the intersection of Product Engineering, Manufacturing, and Field Support, leading first article builds, driving root cause investigations, and taking ownership of FOAK (first-of-a-kind) systems as they move from prototype into the field.
What you'll be doing:
Leading first article assembly, integration, testing, and qualification of new products and engineering changes
Owning root cause investigations across mechanical, electrical, controls, software, pneumatic, and vacuum systems
Supporting FOAK systems through validation, engineering experiments, and readiness assessments
Leading first article installations, upgrades, and retrofits at internal and customer sites — you'll be the technical face during initial deployments
Feeding lessons learned back into Product Engineering and Manufacturing to keep raising the bar on reliability and manufacturability
Mentoring Field Service Engineers and Manufacturing Technicians on new products as they roll out
What they're looking for:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, or Systems Engineering (or equivalent experience)
5–8 years supporting semiconductor capital equipment or complex electromechanical systems
Real experience with prototype, NPI, first article, or FOAK development and deployment
Comfortable troubleshooting across disciplines — mechanical, electrical, controls, software, process
Able to read engineering drawings, schematics, and test procedures fluently
