Position Summary

The New Product Development (NPD) Engineer is responsible for supporting the design, development, and enhancement of hydraulic products and systems. This role combines strong mechanical engineering fundamentals with hands-on hydraulic system experience, analytical problem-solving abilities, and a focus on developing innovative solutions that meet customer and market needs.

Responsibilities

Product Development & Engineering

Analyze, design, and reverse-engineer hydraulic systems, components, and assemblies.
Develop and update hydraulic schematics, P&IDs, and technical engineering drawings.
Support concept generation, product feasibility, and prototype development.
Utilize CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) to create and modify models and drawings.
Apply knowledge of pumps, valves, cylinders, actuators, sealing systems, and hydraulic power units (HPUs) in product design.
Use engineering simulation tools (e.g., ANSYS) for analysis and validation.

Testing, Validation & Problem Solving

Conduct troubleshooting and root cause analysis for hydraulic performance issues.
Identify system inefficiencies and recommend design improvements.
Recreate missing documentation for legacy or customer-supplied equipment.
Support testing, data analysis, and product validation using a data-driven approach.
Assist in failure analysis, component inspection, and corrective action initiatives.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Work closely with manufacturing, quality, design, and other cross‑functional teams to ensure successful product launch and continuous improvement.
Prepare clear and accurate technical documentation, reports, and communication materials.
Engage with suppliers, customers, and internal stakeholders during development activities.

Minimum Qualifications

3–7+ years of experience working with industrial or mobile hydraulic systems.
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Mechatronics, or a related engineering field required.
Hands-on experience in: Hydraulic system troubleshooting, Disassembly, inspection, and testing, Reverse engineering (including experience with 3D scanning tools)
Experience performing root cause investigations and supporting failure analysis.
Exposure to manufacturing processes, tolerances, and engineering standards (ISO, SAE).
Experience in regulated industries (defense, aerospace, oil & gas) is a plus.
Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
Ability to read, interpret, and create hydraulic schematics and technical drawings.
Knowledge of hydraulic components, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and mechanical design principles.
Familiarity with engineering simulation software (e.g., ANSYS).
Certifications in hydraulics (e.g., International Fluid Power Society) preferred.
