Job Summary
The Controls Model-Based Development (MBD) Engineer is responsible for the design, development, validation, and documentation of control system features for engine applications. This role involves applying systems engineering principles, developing software requirements, creating simulation models, and validating control strategies through various testing methodologies.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain comprehensive tuning guides, testing plans, validation reports, and certification documentation for engine system features.
Perform systems engineering activities, including analysis of problem statements and formulation of effective solution proposals for software change requests.
Define and develop detailed software requirements in alignment with system-level specifications.
Design and develop feature simulation models to support control strategy development and validation.
Implement control algorithms and contribute to software development activities.
Verify and validate software implementations using simulation techniques, including Model-in-the-Loop (MIL) and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) testing.
Conduct open-loop and closed-loop testing to ensure system performance and reliability.
Execute bench testing activities using remote access to test benches, ensuring compliance with engineering standards and performance criteria.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Strong understanding of model-based development (MBD) methodologies.
Experience with systems engineering and control system design.
Proficiency in simulation tools and environments (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink or equivalent).
Knowledge of software development lifecycle and requirements engineering.
Experience with MIL, SIL, and HIL testing frameworks.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to create detailed technical documentation and reports.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in engine controls or automotive domain.
Familiarity with calibration, tuning, and validation processes.
Exposure to certification standards and compliance documentation.
