Position Description
We are looking for a brilliant Mixed-Signal Circuit Design Staff Engineer to spearhead our early-stage hardware development. In this role, you will bridge the gap between abstract theoretical concepts and tangible hardware implementations, taking designs from Theory to First Implementation at the schematic level. You will architect, simulate, analyze, and debug complex circuits. You will also serve as a key technical liaison, driving critical architectural and vendor selection decisions through rigorous quantitative simulation and analysis.

Salary commensurate with experience ($175,000 to $225,000). Benefits include Health/Dental/Vision Insurance, 401(k) with matching, flexible hours, PTO.

Key Responsibilities
Concept-to-Schematic Realization: Translate abstract circuit concepts, block diagrams, and system requirements into specific, realizable implementations at the schematic level.
Applied Research & Hardware Innovation: Bridge the gap between theoretical physics and physical reality. Navigate early-stage R&D to build, test, and validate initial hardware concepts.
Mixed-Signal Interface Design: Architect and design robust interfacing circuitry for high-performance mixed-signal domains, balancing noise isolation, signal integrity, and power constraints.
Advanced Simulation & Analysis: Develop comprehensive SPICE, behavioral, or mixed-mode simulations to validate circuit performance, sweep parameters, and predict yield or corner-case behaviors.
ASIC Vendor Architecture & Selection: Lead technical collaboration with ASIC foundries and vendors; drive architectural, process node, and IP selection decisions backed by data-driven simulations and trade studies.
Diagnostic Debugging & Interpretation: Analyze and interpret complex simulation data versus physical lab anomalies to debug early-stage circuit behavior and isolate root causes of performance deviations.
Cross-Functional Mapping: Collaborate closely with digital and layout teams to translate mixed-signal requirements into clear constraints for chip fabrication or PCB layout.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline with a focus on analog/mixed-signal design.
7+ years of experience in early-stage electronic hardware development, circuit simulation, and schematic capture.
Proven track record of taking complex electronic or semiconductor designs from initial concept/theory through to first physical schematic implementation.
Deep proficiency with industry-standard EDA and simulation tools (e.g., Cadence Virtuoso, Spectre, LTspice, ADS, or Synopsys).
Solid understanding of mixed-signal fundamentals, including data converter interfaces, low-noise amplification, or driver/sensor integration.
Preferred Requirements
Experience managing hardware development through formal TRL gateways, specifically adapting designs as they mature from basic research to functional prototypes.
Demonstrated experience interfacing directly with ASIC foundries or silicon vendors to evaluate process design kits (PDKs), standard cell libraries, and packaging options.
Background in analyzing circuit non-idealities (e.g., thermal noise, parasitics, clock jitter, and non-linearities) and translating them into architectural mitigation strategies.
Experience with specialized mixed-signal applications such as high-speed optical steering circuitry, precision low-latency sensing, or resilient tactical communications hardware.
