Mission Assurance Engineer (Flight Hardware)
Position Overview
We are seeking a Mission Assurance Engineer to take ownership of mechanical flight hardware assurance across the full product lifecycle. This role ensures the reliability, safety, and compliance of spacecraft mechanisms through design, manufacturing, test, and integration phases.
You will act as an independent technical authority, responsible for verifying that flight hardware meets all functional, environmental, and regulatory requirements prior to launch.
Key Responsibilities
Own mission assurance activities across design, build, test, and integration phases
Perform independent inspections at critical assembly, test, and integration milestones
Review and approve assembly procedures, test plans, and acceptance criteria
Witness environmental testing campaigns including TVAC, vibration, and life testing
Lead and manage nonconformance (NCR) processes, including root cause investigations and corrective actions
Execute hardware buyoffs with objective evidence and traceability
Support supplier quality assurance, including review of build records and test data
Track reliability trends and contribute to lessons learned and continuous improvement initiatives
Represent Mission Assurance in major program reviews (PDR, CDR, TRR, FRR)
Requirements
Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or related engineering discipline
Experience in mission assurance, quality, or reliability engineering within aerospace or space hardware
Hands-on exposure to flight hardware testing and integration environments
Strong experience with failure investigation and root cause analysis
Desirable Experience
Environmental testing (TVAC, vibration, shock)
Spacecraft mechanisms or deployable systems
Familiarity with aerospace standards (ECSS, NASA, MIL)
Experience in fast-paced or high-volume production environments
