Description
We are seeking a driven microLED Layout Engineer to lead layout design for new microLED products. In this role, you will work with process integration engineers and other stakeholders to create multi-layer layouts for both prototype and mass-production devices. An ideal candidate will be both expert in mask layout and embrace opportunities to collaborate with other teams including process engineering, metrology, reliability, and marketing.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and optimize multi‑layer mask layouts for semiconductor processing using industry-standard tools
- Generate GDS layout files and ensure compatibility with fab processing capabilities
- Collaborate with process integration engineers to define mask sets for new microLED products and iterate on masks to support changes in fab processing
- Balance input from stakeholders across various functions (e.g., process integration, EL testing, reliability engineering) to create usable mask layouts on the first iteration
- Understand processing limitations (e.g. lithography resolution) that have an impact on layout design to ensure that taped-out masks are aligned with fab processing capabilities
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or a related field
- 5+ years of hands-on experience creating multi-layer mask layouts for semiconductor products, in particular optoelectronic products
- Experience using KLayout, Cadence, or Tanner L-edit mask layout software
- Strong communication skills. Ability to summarize findings into clear, actionable reports for cross-functional teams.
- Willingness and ability to travel internationally to collaborate with foundry partners
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree (MS or PhD) in a relevant field of study.
- Familiarity with microLED or LED device architectures and pixel-level design elements
- Understanding of semiconductor wafer process flows and module level processing
- Experience debugging individual mask layers to correct fabrication issues.
- Experience testing microLEDs or working with electroluminescence testing teams
- Proficiency with data analysis and statistical analysis software (e.g., JMP, Minitab, Python, MATLAB)
Benefits & Perks
- Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance
- 401(k) retirement plan
- Paid holidays and vacation
- Employee stock option plan
