Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Test Engineer to support reliability, validation, and performance testing of mechanical and electro-mechanical systems. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in environmental and reliability testing, data analysis, accelerated life testing, and test execution for new product development. This role involves working closely with design, quality, and manufacturing teams to ensure product performance, durability, and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, develop, and execute mechanical and environmental testing programs for product validation and reliability assessment.
Perform tests including shock, vibration, drop, IP, salt spray corrosion, chemical resistance, UV weathering, sound, and vibration testing.
Create and execute DVP&R (Design Verification Plan & Report) documentation.
Conduct accelerated life testing including HALT, HASS, ALT, endurance, and reliability testing.
Design and support test fixtures and setups for mechanical and electro-mechanical systems.
Analyze test data and generate detailed reports with effective data visualization techniques.
Utilize statistical analysis tools such as Minitab, JMP, and Tableau for decision-making and problem identification.
Work with measurement and data acquisition systems including oscilloscopes, sensors, microscopes, and DAQ equipment.
Support failure analysis, root cause investigation, and corrective action implementation.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including design engineering, quality, manufacturing, and suppliers.
Interpret and develop technical standards, testing procedures, and validation requirements.
Evaluate product reliability, warranty impact, product safety, and customer acceptance risks.
Manage and execute multiple testing projects simultaneously while meeting timelines and quality standards.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
Strong knowledge of mechanical and environmental testing methodologies.
Hands-on experience with reliability testing tools and methodologies such as DFMEA, FTA, HALT, HASS, and ALT.
Experience with accelerated testing of mechanical and electrical systems.
Proficiency in statistical analysis and data visualization tools including Minitab, JMP, and Tableau.
Experience with laboratory instruments such as oscilloscopes, DAQ systems, sensors, and microscopes.
Knowledge of LEAN, Six Sigma, and/or DFSS methodologies.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent technical documentation and reporting abilities.
Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
