What To Expect
Tesla’s Energy Remanufacturing team is looking for motivated engineers for equipment engineering positions. This role requires rapid problem solving and ability to implement solutions quickly. This team is developing brand new processes for remanufacturing energy products and improving production lines that are currently running. The right engineer for this position will be able to elegantly juggle sustaining improvement projects while also developing new equipment & lines when needed. This role requires hands-on involvement on the manufacturing lines and emphasizes analytical abilities, organization skills, and attention to detail.
What You'll Do
Analyze production with statistical software (JMP or Minitab preferred) to understand manufacturing uptime, availability, and reliability metrics-yield, OEE, cycle time, quality and investigate bottlenecks to identify root cause and countermeasure to maximize throughput
Flexibility to work with cross functional teams to solve problems and deliver solutions on time ranging from immediate deadlines to months out deadlines
Design, fabricate, install, and modify equipment improvements for running lines and developing ones
Integrate machine interactions with the plant-wide Manufacturing Execution System (MES)
Generate and maintain documentation including machine and process specifications, drawings, BOM, spare parts, PFMEA, control plan, process flow chart
Collaborate with Controls Engineers and technicians to troubleshoot and optimize processes using PLC, HMI, or tool management software
Troubleshoot, iterate, and solve challenging electrical and mechanical issues our production lines
What You'll Bring
Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics engineering, or equivalent experience
2+ years of relevant experience in an engineering role
Proven experience in ramping equipment into manufacturing, including automation, hydraulics, pneumatics, electromechanical systems, and motion controls
Strong problem-solving ability to address complex technical issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions
Evidence of mechanical design aptitude
Experience developing operating and maintenance instructions and training operators
Extensive Proficiency with 3D (SolidWorks, 3Dx, Catia) and 2D CAD (AutoCAD) platforms
Preferred experience with layout creation, tooling drawings, pneumatic, and electrical schematics
Proven ability to operate under pressure while managing multiple priorities simultaneously

Associate Manufacturing Equipment Engineer - $75,600 - $113,400/annual salary
Manufacturing Equipment Engineer - $93,600 - $140,400/annual salary
+ cash and stock awards + benefits for all levels
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
