Davenergy Solutions is currently seeking an on-site, full-time Mechanical Engineer – Plumbing (ME-M) to support construction management services at a VA Medical Center in Miami, FL. This position provides mechanical and plumbing engineering oversight during the construction phase of major federally funded healthcare infrastructure projects, including utility systems, boiler plants, chiller systems, and associated controls.
Requirements
Provide on-site mechanical and plumbing engineering support throughout construction
Review mechanical and plumbing design documents, shop drawings, RFIs, and submittals
Conduct inspections of installed mechanical and plumbing systems to verify compliance with contract documents, codes, and standards
Monitor construction progress and coordinate activities with contractors, inspectors, and government representatives
Identify deficiencies or non-conforming work and support resolution efforts
Support testing, commissioning, and system turnover activities
Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly inspection and progress reports
Assist with change orders, cost evaluations, and schedule impacts related to mechanical and plumbing systems
Relevant Experience
Experience reviewing mechanical and plumbing design and construction documents
Experience resolving unforeseen field conditions and developing technically sound, cost-effective solutions
Experience inspecting mechanical, plumbing, and utility systems in healthcare or institutional facilities
Working knowledge of construction contract documents, including drawings and technical specifications
Familiarity with applicable building codes, NFPA standards, and OSHA requirements
Ability to coordinate effectively with multidisciplinary construction teams
Strong documentation, communication, and computer skills
Required Skills And Knowledge
Ability to assess existing site conditions and coordinate with medical center personnel to minimize impacts to operations and patient care
Ability to determine compliance of materials, equipment, and installed systems with contract requirements and industry standards
Ability to support cost estimating, quantity take-offs, and technical evaluations for contract modifications
Ability to manage multiple construction activities in an active healthcare environment
Knowledge of federal and government contracting procedures is preferred
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management from an accredited institution and a minimum of five (5) years of experience in construction engineering or management
OR
Ten (10) years of directly related experience in lieu of degree
Professional experience should include management or oversight of facility construction projects involving mechanical, plumbing, and utility systems. Federal or healthcare construction experience is preferred.
