VISTA Technology Services, Inc. (VISTA) is currently seeking Mechanical Engineers to support engineering and technical services for Hull, Mechanical, and Electrical (HM&E). A hybrid work environment with some required on-site support is authorized. The Mechanical Engineers will provide design and engineering support for test site programs, including development of conceptual, preliminary, and detailed designs for mechanical and auxiliary systems supporting naval test facilities and equipment. This role supports the full engineering lifecycle, including planning, design, analysis, installation, testing, and as-built verification of HM&E systems and associated infrastructure.
Responsibilities
Develop preliminary machinery arrangement concepts for Government review, including:
Mechanical, electrical, fluid, and structural/foundation systems
Utilities-interface requirements and system integration considerations
Create and maintain computer-based design models (e.g., AutoCAD) to support:
Piping layouts
Structural/rigging concepts
Interface requirements for test site systems
Support conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design efforts, including:
Engineering drawings and data packages
Design calculations, specifications, and technical documentation
Assist with design documentation development, including:
Floor loading estimates
Auxiliary system capacities
Available electrical power and site requirements
Support engineering reviews and program milestones, including:
Design Reviews (Preliminary and Critical Design Reviews)
Integrated Test Readiness Reviews and schedule reviews
Participate in site inspections and engineering assessments:
Validate existing conditions and as-built configurations
Ensure alignment between design and field conditions
Contribute to installation, test, and evaluation support, including:
Design verification and updates to reflect as-built configurations
Troubleshooting and resolution of engineering issues
Support auxiliary fluid and mechanical systems design, including:
Fuel, cooling water, hydraulic, compressed air, and HVAC systems
Pumps, compressors, heat exchangers, and related equipment
Basic Qualifications
Mechanical Engineer II
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or university
Minimum two (2) years of professional experience in:
Mechanical system or auxiliary fluid system design, development, manufacturing, and/or testing
Mechanical Engineer III
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college or university
Five (5) years of professional experience in mechanical system design development, manufacturing, and/or testing, including two (2) years of experience in propulsion systems and/or main mechanical machinery. Experience may be gained concurrently.
Required Skills (II And III)
Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools (e.g., AutoCAD or similar)
Development of engineering drawings and models
Design data processing and production support
Familiarity with:
Mechanical, structural, and/or fluid system design standards and codes
Engineering documentation and technical deliverables
Ability to support multi-disciplinary engineering environments, including coordination with electrical, structural, and test engineering teams
