Position Overview
We are looking for a dynamic and hands-on Engineer to drive the design, development, and validation of mechanical systems for our electric vehicle platforms. This role requires a strong understanding of vehicle dynamics, structural design, and prototyping across both two-wheeler and light four-wheeler architectures.
Key Responsibilities
1. Design and Development
● Lead the design and development of mechanical systems and components for electric vehicles, including chassis/frames, battery enclosures, thermal management systems, and structural parts.
● Two-Wheeler Integration: Optimize vehicle geometry, packaging, and ergonomics for 2-Wheeler platforms (e.g., E-Bikes, E-Scooters).
● Four-Wheeler Architecture: Apply vehicle dynamics and structural principles to small/prototype 4-Wheeler platforms (e.g., Go-Karts, Baja/Formula SAE vehicles).
● Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of mechanical systems with electrical, electronics, and software subsystems.
2. Testing, Validation & Troubleshooting
● Conduct structural, thermal, and vibration analysis (FEA/CFD) to interpret test results and implement iterative design improvements.
● Execute physical testing and validation of components to ensure durability, strength, safety, and performance compliance.
● Investigate and resolve mechanical issues during development, testing, and production phases, supporting root-cause analysis for any field failure
3. Optimization & Prototyping
● Optimize mechanical designs for weight reduction, cost efficiency, and ease of high-volume manufacturing (DFM/DFA).
● Improve thermal management systems (battery, motor, and controller cooling) to maximize vehicle powertrain efficiency.
● Develop physical prototypes and proof-of-concept models, working closely with fabrication, sourcing, and assembly teams to iterate quickly.
4. Documentation & Compliance
● Prepare detailed engineering documentation including 3D CAD models, production-ready 2D drawings with GD&T, Bill of Materials (BOMs), and test plans.
● Ensure compliance with automotive standards and afety regulations related to structural integrity and vehicle homologation.
Requirements
Education
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Automobile Engineering (Strongly Preferred) or Mechanical Engineering.
Experience
3 to 4 years of experience in mechanical design, specifically within the automotive or electric vehicle (EV) industry.
Domain Expertise
Hands-on project or professional experience with:
2-Wheelers: Powertrain packaging, chassis layout, or suspension tuning for E-Bikes/E-Scooters.
4-Wheelers: Active involvement in Go-Kart design, or collegiate automotive design series like Baja SAE / Formula SAE.
Software Skills
High proficiency in standard CAD tools (SolidWorks - Preferred, Creo) and CAE tools for FEA/CFD (ANSYS, SolidWorks Simulation, HyperMesh, or similar).
Technical Core
Deep understanding of machine design and manufacturing processes (sheet metal, casting, plastics), GD&T, material selection, and EV thermal systems.
Soft Skills
Strong problem-solving abilities, exceptional cross-functional communication, and the capacity to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
