Type: 6 Month Contract - (Contract Extension Expectation)
Pay Rate – Negotiable depending on DIRECT-related experience UP to $55/hr - $60/hr
Work Authorization - Must be currently in the United States with active employment authorization documents
Job Summary:
In this role, you will perform evaluations of form, fit, function, access, and analysis of our products. You will collaborate with Vehicle Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Design, and Prototyping to advocate for core initiatives that support the Service optimization of our products. Simultaneously, this role involves managing our Fleet’s inspection and maintenance program. You will present comprehensive reports, findings, and opportunities to reduce cost, time, and repair methods , while collaborating with engineering and the ERP solutions team to develop, implement, and improve inspection and maintenance activities.
Responsibilities:
Design for Serviceability
Partner with cross-functional teams to drive Serviceability (Design for Serviceability).
Evaluate part and assembly design, from concept to design to manufacturing introduction for hand clearance, tooling clearance, ergonomics, and feasibility of replacement of all components.
Identify the need for specialized tooling; guide the special tooling team for design ideation, and development of the tool.
Inspection & Maintenance (I&M)
Collaborate with engineering to develop & maintain the Inspection and maintenance activities associated with our Operations vehicles and Test fleet.
Review effectiveness data and suggest improvements to the maintenance plans to drive efficiency up and reduce vehicle downtime.
Identify areas of improvements in the Inspection and maintenance program and run process improvement projects independently.
Requirements
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Experience: 4 to 6 years of engineering experience , ideally with successful experience in mechanical engineering within a service engineering organization.
CAD Skills: Strong 3D CAD experience, CATIA a plus.
Technical Knowledge
Ability to design for a wide range of fabrication and manufacturing processes.
Solid understanding of complex mechanical and/or electrical systems.
Familiarity with industry standards and safety protocols.
Soft Skills: Detail-oriented, including proven documentation skills , and the ability to work autonomously to manage projects.
Bonus Qualifications
Proficiency in using ERP systems for maintenance and operational data management is a plus.
Experience within the automotive industry.
