Senior Mechanical Engineer

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer with 8-12 years of mechanical design experience to lead the design and development of vertical structures and mechanical assemblies. A Professional Engineer (PE) with experience in vertical structures is strongly preferred.

This role requires hands-on expertise in cabinet, sheet metal, and weldment design, producing complete and accurate drawing packages. Experience with die-cast aluminum and injection-molded plastics is a plus.

You will design mechanical solutions for the telecommunications and electrical power distribution industries, including vertical structures, monopoles, brackets, and related assemblies. The ideal candidate has a strong command of Finite Element Analysis (FEA), using both hand calculations and ANSYS for validation, and is detail-driven with a strong focus on quality.

This position involves full project ownership-from concept through production-and collaboration across engineering and cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities

Design and develop custom mechanical assemblies for power distribution equipment, mounting brackets, and monopoles.
Perform FEA using ANSYS and hand calculations to validate structural designs.
Lead projects from initial concept through production release.
Create and maintain detailed parts, assemblies, drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure design quality and on-time delivery.
Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
Ensure designs comply with applicable industry standards and regulations.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master's degree preferred).
8-12 years of hands-on experience in mechanical design and product development.
Professional Engineer (PE) with structural design and stress analysis experience preferred.
Proficiency in SolidWorks, SolidWorks PDM, and ANSYS.
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Experience with NEMA 3R electronic enclosures preferred.
Familiarity with UL 50, UL 67, UL 98, and UL 508 standards is a plus.
Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Proven ability to manage multiple projects in parallel.
High attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
