Role Description This is a full-time Mechanical Engineer role based in Worcester, MA, with a hybrid work arrangement that allows some work from home. The Mechanical Engineer will design, analyze, and optimize mechanical systems and components for industrial applications, ensuring reliability, safety, and cost-effectiveness. Daily responsibilities include developing 3D models and detailed drawings using CAD tools, preparing technical documentation, and performing calculations and simulations to validate designs. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams on projects, supporting procurement and manufacturing with specifications and technical clarifications, and assisting in installation, testing, and commissioning activities as needed. The Mechanical Engineer will also contribute to continuous improvement and R&D initiatives by researching new materials, technologies, and methods to enhance plant performance and efficiency.
Qualifications
Strong foundation in Mechanical Engineering, including mechanics, thermodynamics, materials, and fluid dynamics.
Proficiency in Machine Design, with experience in designing and selecting mechanical components and assemblies for industrial systems.
Hands-on experience with Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor, CATIA) for 3D modeling and detailed drafting.
Project Management skills to plan tasks, manage timelines, coordinate with stakeholders, and track project deliverables.
Experience or interest in Research and Development (R&D), including prototyping, testing, and implementing innovative engineering solutions.
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline; advanced degree is an advantage.
Ability to interpret engineering drawings, codes, and standards; familiarity with relevant industry standards (e.g., ASME, ISO) is beneficial.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail and a focus on safety and quality.
Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams.
Prior experience in process, energy, petrochemical, or heavy industrial environments is a plus.
