Overview
We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to support the design and development of components, assemblies, and systems for automation and product development initiatives. This role will focus on translating requirements into manufacturable designs, supporting testing and validation efforts, and contributing to cross-functional product development teams.
The ideal candidate brings strong foundational mechanical engineering experience, hands-on design capability, and the ability to solve technical problems in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
Mechanical Design & Development
Design sheet metal, plastic, and machined components and assemblies for automation equipment and systems
Translate engineering requirements into detailed designs and specifications
Ensure designs meet performance, cost, and manufacturability requirements
Analysis & Testing
Perform design analysis and support testing to validate product performance and functionality
Develop and execute test protocols with moderate guidance
Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical and design-related issues
Product Development & Collaboration
Contribute to cross-functional R&D efforts to develop new systems, particularly in automation environments
Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, software engineers, and technicians to develop integrated solutions
Partner with external vendors to prototype and refine designs
Documentation
Create and maintain engineering documentation including drawings, specifications, and design records
Support documentation for sourcing, manufacturing, and inspection processes
Qualifications
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field
7+ years of relevant mechanical design and product development experience
Technical Skills
Experience designing mechanical components and assemblies (sheet metal, plastics, machined parts)
Proficiency with CAD tools (SolidWorks preferred)
Experience with design analysis and testing methodologies
Understanding of manufacturability and cost optimization principles
