Dusty Robotics builds autonomous construction robots that automate layout printing directly on job sites. Our robots bridge the gap between digital design and physical construction, bringing precision, speed, and reliability to the field.
You'll work closely with our hardware team to design, build, and test mechanical systems that power our robots. This is a hands-on role where your designs won’t just live in CAD—they’ll be built, tested, broken, improved, and shipped.
What You'll Do
We’re looking for a strong mechanical engineer to both design our next generation product and bring in the experience needed to make our product reliable and easy to build for higher volume manufacturing. You will work on all aspects of robot design from the main drive mechanism, motion stages and print mechanism to the skin and packaging. Our ideal candidate has experience bringing electro-mechanical products with similar features to market. This includes hands-on experience with the different stages of mechanical design, from prototyping though design validation, design for manufacturing, and reliability.
Additional Duties
Push the limits of hardware design for our next generation hardware for our robotic layout platform
Work on the mechanical design of a precision autonomous robot having multiple electro-mechanical systems.
Work with unique technologies in printing and optics.
Be part of a cross-disciplinary team that is solving problems spanning mechanics, printing, optics, electronics, firmware, and software
Be part of a growing, successful startup with strong customer pull for our product
Who You Are
7+ years experience developing electro-mechanical systems from design through production.
Experience with manufacturing processes including precision machining, sheet metal manufacturing, 3D printing, injection molding, and thermoforming.
Experience designing for manufacturing, assembly, and designing for reliability.
Experience with static and dynamic structural design and analysis for structures is a plus.
Experience with printing technologies or optics is a plus.
Competency in core engineering skills in math, physics, and mechanics.
BS in mechanical engineering or related field. Advanced degree preferred
Why You Should Join
In joining our team, you’ll become an important part of a small and fast-growing company. We are daring to accomplish something big, do you want to be a critical part of Dusty’s success? We are deeply committed to our mission, and we believe in removing roadblocks that distract us from reaching our goals.
To that end, we offer an unlimited vacation policy, a 401k with employer match, reasonable work hours, and flexible schedules. We know that our best work happens when we feel well-rested and capable of focusing all of our energy on making Dusty successful!
Strong, effective teams are composed of people with a diverse set of backgrounds and experiences who bring a variety of perspectives to their work. We actively encourage applications from a diverse pool, including those from historically under-represented groups such as women, people of color, people who identify LGBTQ, people with disabilities, and immigrants.
Our Code Of Conduct
Dusty Robotics exists to serve a wide variety of customers from all walks of life. We believe that our mission is best served in an environment that is friendly, safe, accepting, and free of intimidation or harassment. We do not tolerate abusive behavior.
We are not accepting unsolicited resumes from third-party recruiters or agencies
