Job Role: Mechanical Design Engineer – Robotics
Location: El Segundo, CA (Onsite) - Need locals or nearby LA
Salary: $125, 000 - $175, 000 per year
Eligibility: US Citizens/GC holders only (Can't provide any sponsorship)
What You Get To Do:
Own mechanism design from initial concept through build, test, and customer deployment.
An opportunity to work on a wide range of engineering problems: electro-mechanical design, fluid systems, test and validation, and electrical thermal management design.
Design real robotics solutions to solve major humanitarian concerns and have a hand in transforming our relationship with food
The opportunity to work with a cross functional team of perception engineers, controls, mechanical design, and software architecture.
Travel to industry customers to visit aquaculture farms and boats on east and west US coasts, as well as Mexico.
What You Will Need:
B.S./M.S. in Mechanical Engineering, related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
Background (experience, portfolio, side projects, coursework) in physical prototyping, mechanism design and misc. mechanical engineering projects
Experience with CAD tools (NX preferred)
Hands-on experience with machining, fabrication methods and rapid prototyping
Exposure to robotics or embedded systems a strong plus
Ability to work onsite full time in El Segundo office in Los Angeles
Mid-level to senior-level role
Minimum experience of 2 years, but more preferred
What You Get To Do:
Own the full mechanical build of our Sea robotic systems from start to finish
Develop new processes for new production required by new product development
Assemble, integrate, and debug electro-mechanical subsystems including actuators, motors, PCBs, plumbing, and structural assemblies
Identify design issues during build and work directly with the design team to implement improvements
Build fixtures, tools, and processes that make each unit faster and more reliable to assemble
Diagnose failures quickly through teardown, root-cause analysis, and hands-on testing
Ensure every Poseidon unit meets quality, fit, alignment, and performance standards before deployment
Collaborate with technicians and engineers to improve the repeatability of every subsystem
Maintain build documentation, assembly procedures, and checklists as systems evolve
Help plan and execute the build infrastructure and processes needed to triple robot production in 2026
Work closely with design engineers to influence new revisions based on real build-floor feedback
