What To Expect
The Product Design Integration team at Tesla is involved from the earliest stages of development, to establish the product architecture and layout with consideration for many attributes (styling, cost, mass, manufacturability, performance, service, NVH, reliability, etc.). The team works on all Tesla programs within the Energy, Robotics and Vehicle.

The team works with design engineering, styling, manufacturing teams, and others to develop compatible designs while ensuring product level attributes are optimized. As the design matures, the team builds physical representations of the product to validate key decisions and further refine the design prior to tooling and manufacture.

What You'll Do

Mechanical design and packaging of components to meet product and system level requirements while optimizing for product attributes
Lead product integration reviews, mediate trade-off situations to ensure design solutions are aligned with product attribute targets
Lead packaging master section development supporting Class A surface development and product integration feasibility
Support and execute virtual builds, development buck, physical prototypes, and pre-series production
Manage top-level product CAD and BOM, use best practices for ensuring CAD completeness and compatibility, support release process


What You'll Bring

Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience
Experience in energy products, high voltage battery or robot integration and packaging, must have experience in full product lifecycle from concept through production
Extensive understanding of design principles that support functional product systems design
Knowledgeable in part manufacturing processes from circuit boards to large castings
Outstanding design, packaging, and 3D modeling skills; CATIA experience is an advantage
Proven problem solving and strong communication skills
Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment
Experience with product lifecycle management tools is an advantage
Passion for energy efficiency or robotics

Expected Compensation

$91,600 - $164,400/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
