Key Responsibilities
· Conceptual Design: Develop and refine 3D concept models in Siemens NX, setting the foundation for detailed part and assembly creation by junior engineers.
· Mechanical & Structural Design: Design and modify mechanical and structural components for aerospace systems, ensuring reliability and manufacturability.
· Thermal & Simulation Analysis: Conduct or support thermal modeling and simulation (using STAR-CCM+ or equivalent) to optimize designs for heat management and performance.
· Tolerance & Documentation: Apply GD&T and tolerance analysis principles; generate detailed engineering drawings, BOMs, and technical documentation.
· Collaboration: Work with electrical, systems, and manufacturing teams to integrate mechanical designs into complete assemblies.
· Design Validation: Support prototype builds, analyze test results, and implement design improvements.
· Compliance: Ensure designs adhere to internal and industry aerospace standards and quality requirements.
Required Qualifications
· Experience: 2+ years of mechanical design engineering experience in aerospace or aviation programs.
· Software Proficiency: Advanced skills in Siemens NX for 3D modeling, assemblies, and drafting.
· Mechanical Design Expertise: Strong understanding of conceptual design, tolerancing (GD&T), and structural modification work.
· Industry Background: Prior experience with aviation, UAV, or aerospace systems preferred.
· Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
· Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of education
· Soft Skills: Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving abilities; strong attention to detail.
Preferred Attributes
· Thermal/Simulation: Familiarity with STAR-CCM+, Simcenter, or similar simulation tools for thermal or performance analysis.
· Experience with Teamcenter or Siemens PLM systems.
· Knowledge of FAA standards or aerospace certification processes.
· Demonstrated ability to take a design from concept to prototype.
