Mechanical Engineer – HVAC Prototyping & Testing
Why this role stands out
This is a hands-on engineering role inside a design, prototyping, and testing center, not a production plant. You’ll work on HVAC systems (coils, compressors, thermal systems) from concept through validation, building and testing real hardware in a fast-moving R&D environment.
What you’ll do
Design and develop HVAC components and systems (coils, compressors, heat exchangers)
Build and support prototype systems for testing and validation
Develop and execute test plans, validation protocols, and performance analysis
Analyze thermal performance, airflow, pressure, and system efficiency
Work hands-on with lab equipment, instrumentation, and test setups
Troubleshoot performance issues and drive design improvements
Support product development from concept through prototype validation
Collaborate with electrical, controls, and lab teams on system integration
Document results and present findings to engineering leadership
What you bring
B.S. in Mechanical Engineering (or related)
3–10+ years of experience in HVAC, refrigeration, or thermal systems
Experience with:
Coils, compressors, heat exchangers, or sealed systems
Prototyping and hands-on mechanical work
Test lab environments, instrumentation, and data analysis
Strong understanding of thermodynamics and heat transfer
CAD experience (SolidWorks, Creo, or similar)
Ability to troubleshoot and solve real-world performance issues
Nice to have
Experience with sealed refrigeration systems and refrigerants
Familiarity with ASHRAE / AHRI standards
Experience with data acquisition systems (DAQ) or LabVIEW
Background in R&D or test lab environments
What this is NOT
Not a production/manufacturing engineering role
Not focused on high-volume plant support
This is design + prototype + test-focused engineering
