A well‑established industrial manufacturer in the Greater Pittsburgh region is seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join its engineering team. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys hands‑on design work and contributing to the development of complex mechanical systems used in manufacturing and industrial environments.
This position offers the opportunity to work on technically challenging projects from concept through production while collaborating closely with cross‑functional teams including manufacturing, electrical, and operations.
Key Responsibilities
Design and develop mechanical components, assemblies, and systems for capital equipment, industrial machinery, or manufacturing-related products
Create detailed 3D models, drawings, and BOMs using modern CAD tools
Support projects through the full product lifecycle, from concept and prototyping to release and production support
Collaborate with manufacturing and suppliers to ensure designs are practical, cost‑effective, and manufacturable
Perform basic engineering calculations, tolerance stack‑ups, and design analyses
Participate in design reviews and contribute to continuous product improvement initiatives
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
5+ years of mechanical design experience in one or more of the following:
Capital equipment
Industrial machinery
Manufacturing equipment or mechanical components
Strong proficiency with 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo, or similar)
Experience designing machined, welded, or assembled mechanical components
Familiarity with manufacturing processes and design‑for‑manufacturability principles
Ability to work independently while also collaborating in a team‑oriented engineering environment
