Mechanical Design Engineer
About the Role
Our client is building technically sophisticated, easy‑to‑use consumer hardware that ships directly to customers worldwide. As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you’ll own complex consumer hardware from early concept through high‑volume production and public launch—while also helping design the factories that manufacture it.
This role blends product design, manufacturing engineering, and automation, offering hands‑on ownership and real‑world impact at scale.
What You’ll Do
Own consumer satellite internet hardware from concept development through high‑volume production and launch
Lead creative, cross‑functional design efforts, collaborating with electrical, software, manufacturing, and operations teams
Develop and refine design criteria, requirements, and system‑level optimizations
Design, test, and iterate products to ensure high reliability, performance, and durability across all environments
Design and develop production lines and automation, including:
Robot end‑effector design
Process and tooling development
Control system concepts and automation support
Optimize production systems for high throughput, yield, quality, and reliability
Drive efficient end‑to‑end product lifecycles, balancing cost, complexity, manufacturability, and quality
Partner closely with supply chain, manufacturing, and operations teams to scale in‑house production
Required Skills & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or another engineering discipline
Experience using CAD and FEA tools
1+ year of professional experience in mechanical or electromechanical:

Master’s degree in engineering or related technical field
3+ years of mechanical design and analysis experience
2+ years leading or owning hands‑on projects involving complex mechanical systems
Proficiency in 3D CAD (NX preferred)
Prior ownership of a complex component or assembly from concept through high‑volume production ramp
Experience designing for manufacturability and scalability
Exposure to production machinery or industrial equipment
Why This Role
Full end‑to‑end ownership of real consumer hardware shipped globally
Opportunity to influence both product design and factory automation
Work on high‑impact, high‑volume systems with visible customer outcomes
Collaborative, fast‑paced engineering culture with room to grow technically and professionally
Compensation:
$75,000 to $93,500 per year annual salary. [If client has provided an exact salary, then
no need to use a range; also, if the client has provided an hourly rate, then use same hourly
language from the Contract/Contract-to-Hire section above.]
Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
