Mid-Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Location: Greater Denver Area, CO
Working Model: Hybrid, 2-3 days onsite per week
Salary: $130,000-$150,000 + equity + benefits

A fast-growing space technology company is looking to add two Senior Mechanical Design Engineers to its spacecraft engineering team in Colorado.

This is an opportunity to work on next-generation small satellite platforms in a highly collaborative, engineering-led environment where you’ll have direct ownership over flight hardware from early concept phases through integration and launch preparation.

The team is looking for engineers who enjoy solving complex mechanical challenges, working closely across disciplines, and operating in a fast-paced New Space environment with a high level of autonomy and visibility.


Responsibilities

Lead mechanical design activities for small satellite platforms and spacecraft hardware
Create CAD layouts, detailed parts, assembly drawings, and manufacturing documentation
Apply GD&T and tolerancing best practices throughout the design lifecycle
Collaborate closely with structural and thermal engineering teams on spacecraft packaging, coatings, and thermal solutions
Support hardware integration, vibration testing, and environmental test activities
Contribute to design reviews and mentor junior engineers where appropriate
Support spacecraft development from proposal phase through launch readiness

Requirements

BS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field
6+ years of mechanical design experience within aerospace or space systems
Direct experience working on spacecraft, satellite buses, or flight hardware
Strong CAD experience, ideally with SolidWorks or Onshape
Experience creating manufacturing and assembly drawings
Comfortable working with PDM/version control and engineering release processes
Strong understanding of GD&T, tolerancing, and mechanical analysis
Ability to operate effectively in a fast-moving engineering environment
Strong communication and collaboration skills

Preferred Experience

Small satellite or New Space experience
Mechanism design and testing
Environmental/vibration testing support
Thermal and structural integration exposure
Experience mentoring junior engineers
Familiarity with spacecraft environmental standards and launch requirements
