ABOUT THE COMPANY
Our client is an innovative aerospace technology company focused on advancing in-space mobility and propulsion solutions for next-generation satellite platforms. Our technologies enable spacecraft to maneuver, avoid collisions, and extend mission lifetimes—supporting a safer and more sustainable space environment.
With strong recent investment and a growing portfolio of government and commercial contracts, the organization is scaling rapidly. The team is made up of engineers and problem-solvers tackling complex challenges in spaceflight, turning advanced concepts into real-world, flight-ready systems. This is an opportunity to join at a pivotal stage of growth and contribute to impactful, mission-driven technology.

ROLE OVERVIEW & RESPONSIBILITIES
This is a fast-paced, engineering-driven environment where individuals are expected to take ownership, collaborate across disciplines, and contribute beyond their core responsibilities when needed.
Key responsibilities include:
Own and deliver mechanical designs at both component and system level from early concept through production
Collaborate with electrical and software engineers to integrate control systems, electronics, and telemetry into mechanical designs
Work closely with analysis and test teams to validate performance through simulation and physical testing
Coordinate with fluids engineering teams to integrate components such as valves, regulators, and pressure transducers
Support manufacturing activities by working with production teams on assembly, integration, and testing
Interface with vendors and procurement to source commercial components and support fabrication of custom parts
Contribute across the full design lifecycle including requirements definition, design reviews, test planning, and iteration
Partner with systems engineering and program management to track requirements and support technical documentation (e.g., BOMs, equipment lists, data packages, mass budgets)
Support customer-facing technical reviews (e.g., SRR, PDR, CDR)
Promote strong cross-functional collaboration across mechanical, electrical, software, and analysis disciplines

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related discipline
3+ years of experience in mechanical design within an aerospace or high-reliability engineering environment
Ability to work within regulated programs (e.g., U.S. Person requirement)

TECHNICAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Proficiency in CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks or similar) with experience producing production-ready drawings and models
Experience with mechanical analysis, including hand calculations and simulation tools (e.g., FEA packages such as ANSYS or equivalent)
Ability to take ownership of designs while collaborating within multidisciplinary teams
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
6+ years of experience in mechanical design engineering
Direct experience with spacecraft or spacecraft subsystem design, including structural layout within mass and volume constraints
Experience with propulsion or fluid systems, including component sizing, pressure vessel design, and interpretation of P&IDs
Familiarity with material compatibility considerations for propellants and harsh operating environments
Understanding of design for manufacturability (DFM) across both traditional and additive manufacturing methods
Working knowledge of GD&T principles
Experience taking designs from concept through production and validation
Experience with electronic packaging and harness routing within mechanical systems
Familiarity with aerospace design standards and practices
