Orbit Motion Systems is looking for a mechanical design engineer with experience in machine and subassembly design. As a specialty machine builder, we focus on automating manufacturing tasks in the fields of packaging and food and beverage industries. Using robotic technologies and motion programming competencies, we are able to build automatic equipment to support our customers.
With a focus on machine design and end of arm robotic tooling the day to day tasks would be varied as we go from project to project. Working in conjunction with our fabrication, electrical, and software staff this role will be a compliment to the existing team.
A proper candidate will be able to perform the design, layout, testing, and evaluation of mechanical assemblies and prove the viability before integration into the final machine. Previous mechanical design experience is a must and a portfolio of work will be required.
Education Requirement
BS in engineering with a minimum of 5-10 years of related work experiences
Ability to integrate the use of cam movements, pneumatics, and/or hydraulics when necessary to perform specific functions and product movements
Required Skills
Experience in a manufacturing environment and in machine shops
Organized and accountable with ability to manage many projects simultaneously
Strong communicator, verbal and written
Strong technical aptitude and innovative and creative thinking, problem solving and troubleshooting skills
3D design and analysis software proficiency required (e.g. SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Pro/E)
Proficient with Microsoft suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Adaptability to adjust to rapidly changing work environments and operational situations
Support hands-on design and development of sub-assemblies and platforms
Support all engineering processes, including drafting and detailed design using SolidWorks CAD platform
Test designs and execution to support verification and validation of new designs
Execute small to medium sized mechanical design projects, commensurate with ability and skill level, from concept to completion

Compensation Details: The expected rate of pay for this position is starting at $85,000 annually, depending on experience.
