Step into a technology-driven manufacturing environment where your process expertise shapes the way products are made. As a Manufacturing Process Optimization Engineer, you’ll spend your days on the production floor and in the lab refining workflows, elevating quality, and boosting throughput. You’ll translate data into action, implement smarter methods, and help bring new and complex products into steady-state production.
What a typical day looks like
Survey production lines, observe process flow, and capture key performance data.
Apply scientific and statistical techniques to analyze variation, map processes, and document standard work.
Pinpoint bottlenecks and inefficiencies, then pilot and implement remedies that improve output, quality, and cost.
Recommend and justify changes to equipment, tooling, work methods, and resource utilization (labor, energy, raw materials).
Partner with cross-functional teams to launch or refine processes for new or more complex products.
Serve as a go-to resource and mentor for junior engineers on methods, analysis, and best practices.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field with strong mechanical grounding.
Proven experience in manufacturing process engineering within a production environment or manufacturing facility.
Preferred background
Powdered metal exposure.
Automotive and/or broader manufacturing experience.
Core competencies
Clear, effective written and verbal communication.
Fluency with Microsoft Office and CAD software.
Project leadership, planning, and prioritization skills.
Decisive judgment and sound decision-making.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities.
Working knowledge of machining, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, and strength of materials.
