Description

Start your engineering career with hands-on experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The Entry-Level Maintenance Engineer supports the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of paper, plastic, and packaging manufacturing equipment. This role is designed for recent engineering graduates who want to learn quickly, build real-world technical skills, and grow into future leadership roles.

You will work directly on the production floor alongside experienced maintenance technicians, production teams, and engineering leadership to troubleshoot equipment, improve reliability, and support plant operations. This position offers exposure to mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and PLC-controlled systems, as well as continuous improvement and reliability initiatives.

Requirements

Equipment & Maintenance Support

Work side-by-side with maintenance technicians to learn equipment operation and troubleshooting.
Support preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities on production and facility equipment.
Assist with troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and PLC-controlled systems.
Monitor equipment performance and escalate abnormal conditions affecting safety, quality, or uptime.
Assist with equipment installations, rebuilds, upgrades, and shutdown/startup activities.
Help analyze downtime, identify root causes, and support corrective actions.

Daily Operations & Communication

Assist with daily maintenance communication between shifts.
Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas for improvement.
Work with vendors and contractors on repairs, upgrades, and projects.
Support maintenance and facility improvement initiatives as assigned.

Documentation & Systems

Learn and use the CMMS to manage work orders, PM tasks, and maintenance records.
Assist in organizing and tracking spare parts inventory using CMMS.
Help develop standardized maintenance procedures, PM checklists, and equipment documentation.
Support root cause analysis (RCA) and reliability reporting.

Safety & Compliance

Follow all INDEVCO safety policies, lockout/tagout procedures, and PPE requirements.
Participate in safety observations, audits, and incident investigations.
Support 5S, housekeeping, and plant safety initiatives.

Continuous Improvement

Participate in Lean, TPM, and reliability initiatives to reduce downtime and improve equipment performance.
Collaborate with production, quality, and engineering teams to identify process improvement opportunities.
Support energy efficiency, waste reduction, and sustainability initiatives.

Professional Development

Complete required training and demonstrate readiness for increased responsibility.
Engage in mentorship and hands-on learning to build technical and leadership skills.

Physical Requirements

Approximately 70% of time spent on the production floor.
Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb ladders/platforms, and work around moving equipment.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Comfortable working in industrial environments with noise, heat, dust, and varying temperatures.
Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and shutdowns as needed.

Required

Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or related technical field.
Strong mechanical aptitude and interest in industrial manufacturing systems.
Understanding of mechanical, electrical, and industrial safety fundamentals.
Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and mechanical drawings.
Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn in a hands-on environment.
Effective communication and time management skills.

Preferred (not Required)

Internship, co-op, or hands-on project experience.
Exposure to PLCs, hydraulics, pneumatics, or manufacturing equipment.
