Key Responsibilities:
Lead end-to-end design, development, and maintenance of Mainframe-based applications using COBOL and related Mainframe utilities.
Analyze business requirements, translate them into technical specifications, and propose scalable Mainframe solutions aligned with enterprise standards.
Perform impact analysis, code changes, unit testing, and support system/integration testing for enhancements and defect fixes.
Optimize existing COBOL programs and Mainframe jobs for performance, reliability, and maintainability.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support production releases, incident resolution, and root cause analysis for critical issues.
Ensure adherence to coding standards, security guidelines, and compliance requirements within the Mainframe environment.
Create and maintain technical documentation, including design documents, job flows, and support guides.
Mentor junior team members, provide code reviews, and share Mainframe best practices to uplift overall team capability.
Participate in planning, estimation, and status reporting for Mainframe development and support activities.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, including automation, process optimization, and technical upgrades in the Mainframe landscape.
Knowledge of more than one technology
Basics of Architecture and Design fundamentals
Knowledge of Testing tools
Knowledge of agile methodologies
Understanding of Project life cycle activities on development and maintenance projects
Understanding of one or more Estimation methodologies, Knowledge of Quality processes
Basics of business domain to understand the business requirements
Analytical abilities, Strong Technical Skills, Good communication skills
Good understanding of the technology and domain
Ability to demonstrate a sound understanding of software quality assurance principles, SOLID design principles and modelling methods
Awareness of latest technologies and trends
Excellent problem solving, analytical and debugging skills
