Role Description The Lutron Programmer is a full-time, on-site role based in Avon, CO, responsible for programming, configuring, and supporting Lutron lighting and shading control systems. On a day-to-day basis, this role involves interpreting electrical and lighting design plans, building and modifying Lutron control programs, and commissioning systems in the field to ensure they meet project specifications. The Lutron Programmer will collaborate with electricians, project managers, and clients to fine-tune system behavior, troubleshoot issues, and provide end-user training on system operation. This position also includes documenting system configurations, maintaining accurate records of changes, and coordinating with Lutron technical support when needed. The role requires frequent on-site work in active construction or renovation environments, along with occasional after-hours support during critical commissioning or service windows.
Qualifications
Strong foundation in Computer Science concepts relevant to control systems, automation, or embedded environments.
Hands-on Programming skills, with experience in Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) for building and maintaining structured, reusable code.
Exposure to Software Development practices, including testing, debugging, and version control in a technical or field-based setting.
Experience or familiarity with Back-End Web Development or networked systems helpful for integrating Lutron systems with other building technologies.
Prior experience with Lutron (HomeWorks, QS, RA, or similar lighting/shade control platforms) strongly preferred; manufacturer certifications are a plus.
Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, and control schematics.
Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to diagnose and resolve field issues under time constraints.
Effective communication skills for working with field crews, project managers, and clients, including the ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
Comfort working on active job sites, including the ability to use basic hand tools, follow safety procedures, and coordinate with installation teams.
High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in a related technical field is preferred.
